Don't run after extra classes, just focus on class and practice at home, Nhat Anh - Minh Tra excelled in the top 2% of the highest SAT scores in the world.

In the SAT American standardized test last December, Dang Tran Nhat Anh and Truong Minh Tri, students of class 11T1, Ngoi Sao Hoang Mai School (Hanoi), both achieved the desired scores to be listed in the top 2% of people with the highest SAT scores in the world.

Specifically, Nhat Anh scored 1520/1600 points (Math score 790, in the top 1% and Reading score 730, in the top 5% of the world). Minh Tri scored 1510/1600 (Math score 790, in the top 1% and Reading score 720, in the top 5% of the world).

“When we received the results, we were very happy because our efforts were rewarded,” Nhat Anh and Minh Tri said.

Sharing the secret to getting high scores on the first try, Nhat Anh said that maintaining discipline in studying is the most important thing to put first.

For the Math section, the male student focused on solving exercises and regularly practiced difficult exam questions to get used to advanced types of questions. As for the Reading section, the 10X student improved his vocabulary every day by reading many English books.

“I usually divide my study time into short periods, alternating between subjects to avoid being overloaded. In the morning, I study parts that require thinking such as Math. In the evening, I spend time reading and doing Reading exercises. I also try to get enough rest to keep my spirit as comfortable as possible,” Nhat Anh shared.

To achieve this result, Nhat Anh revealed that he did not attend extra classes, but completely self-studied during the 4 regular SAT periods per week at school. The 10X always tried to complete his homework and projects in class first, then spent his evenings focusing on practicing for the SAT. At first, he was not used to the pressure of practicing, but thanks to detailed planning and encouragement from teachers, the male student overcame it.

According to Nhat Anh, Verbal is the most difficult part of the SAT, requiring deep analysis and a rich vocabulary. With Math, questions often have small traps that can easily cause confusion.

From his own experience, Nhat Anh encourages young people who are preparing for the SAT to start as early as possible, learn the structure of the test carefully and make a clear study plan. The male student does not forget to practice self-study ability and believes that this is the most important factor.

"You don't need to take too many extra classes and don't put pressure on yourself to the point of exhaustion," the 10X advised.

For Minh Tri, the road to success was not easy. Starting to get acquainted with the SAT in 10th grade, Minh Tri felt overwhelmed when the test required a higher level of thinking than normal tests. In his first SAT test, the male student scored at the bottom of the class.

Not giving up, Minh Tri was determined to conquer this certificate. The male student reviewed the knowledge taught at school, proactively asking teachers for materials. Instead of attending extra classes, the 10X optimized his time studying for the SAT in class and diligently practiced at home.

"One of the important secrets that helped me succeed is high concentration in class and the spirit of self-study anytime, anywhere," Minh Tri emphasized.

Ms. Luong Hien Trang, an SAT teacher, was impressed by Minh Tri's breakthrough, when her student achieved this result after only one year of getting acquainted. Near the exam, the female teacher sent Minh Tri materials to practice at home. After only 2 weeks, the 10X completed more than 200 pages of the book and all the practice tests.

According to Ms. Nguyen Minh Thu - Minh Tri's mother, although he only started taking the SAT test at the beginning of 10th grade, thanks to the guidance and support of the school and teachers, his son has made many steady steps forward.

"Minh Tri's results once again confirm the family's educational philosophy of not pursuing extra classes. Instead, focus on studying well at school, completing all homework, promoting self-study and proactively doing exercises in reference books," said Ms. Thu.
