(NLDO)- Due to a conflict with the staff of a coffee shop on Pham Van Dong Street, CVH poured gasoline and set the shop on fire, killing 11 people.
Early morning of December 19, Hanoi City Police announced that the City Police Investigation Agency has issued a decision to prosecute the murder case and prosecute CVH (51 years old, residing in Dai Mach commune, Dong Anh district, Hanoi) to investigate and handle the act of burning down a coffee shop, causing many deaths in Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi.

Previously, at around 11:03 p.m. on December 18, Call Center 114 - Hanoi City Police Command Information Center received a report of a fire at a coffee shop at 258 Pham Van Dong, Co Nhue 2 Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, with many people trapped inside. Immediately, the City Police mobilized the Fire Prevention and Fighting Force to the scene to coordinate with the local authorities and people to organize fire fighting, rescue and relief.
Given the seriousness of the incident, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung, Director of Hanoi Police, along with the Board of Directors and professional departments, were present at the scene to direct the functional forces to deploy rescue and firefighting measures and investigate and clarify the cause of the fire. Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai arrived at the scene to direct local authorities and relevant departments and branches to quickly overcome the consequences of the fire.
By 11:40 p.m. the same day, the fire was under control. Authorities guided and assisted in bringing 7 people out (5 of whom were in stable condition, 2 were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment) and discovered 11 people had died.
Through initial verification, the police suspected that the coffee shop was burned down and urgently searched for and arrested the suspect. At around 0:00 on December 19, the city police arrested CVH.
At the police station, CVH initially confessed that he went to the cafe to drink beer and then had a conflict with the cafe staff, so he bought gasoline and poured it on the first floor of the cafe (where there were many motorbikes) and then set it on fire; when he saw the fire, H. left.
Currently, the Director of the City Police Department continues to direct the City Police Investigation Agency to quickly investigate and clarify the cause, motive, and purpose of the crime of the accused to strictly handle it according to regulations and verify and clarify the identities of the victims.
Along with that, directing relevant units, Bac Tu Liem District Police coordinated with City Departments, branches and sectors to visit, encourage and support the families of the victims and urgently overcome the consequences of the fire.
According to the police, H. had two previous convictions for robbery and theft.
