Start of Thu Thiem 4 bridge construction plan

Ho Chi Minh City: The bridge connecting Thu Thiem Urban Area, Thu Duc City to District 7, with a total capital of nearly 5,000 billion VND, is expected to be submitted to the City People's Council for approval of the investment policy at the next session.

This is one of 11 key projects that the Department of Transport has just sent to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, to prepare the content to submit to the City People's Council for consideration at the meeting scheduled to take place next July. Compared to before, the investment level of Thu Thiem 4 Bridge is now 4,950 billion VND, a decrease of more than 300 billion after updating some items. If approved, the project will be implemented in the period of 2024-2027, in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge crosses the Saigon River, more than two kilometers long, 28 meters wide with 6 lanes and sidewalks. The project is designed to start from the section before the intersection of Tan Thuan 2 Bridge - Nguyen Van Linh, go along Nguyen Van Linh Street, turn left at Huynh Tan Phat intersection to connect to Luu Trong Lu Street (District 7). The bridge continues to cross Tan Thuan Port, cross the Saigon River to connect Thu Thiem Urban Area at the intersection of the North-South axis and Bui Thien Ngo Street.

Previously, the Department of Transport, in its role of investment preparation, implemented three project research packages, including: preparing request documents, evaluating proposal documents for consulting packages, surveying, and completing the pre-feasibility study report; surveying, preparing the pre-feasibility study report, and reviewing the pre-feasibility study report. These tasks have been completed to prepare for submission to the City People's Council for approval of the investment policy.

Thu Thiem 4 is one of the key projects in Ho Chi Minh City. When completed, it will not only promote the development of Thu Thiem Urban Area but also shorten the travel time from Thu Duc City and Binh Thanh District to Districts 7, 8, Nha Be, and Binh Chanh. The project will also help reduce traffic congestion around Ben Nghe Port, Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, and Huynh Tan Phat Street in District 7.

In addition to the above project, the Department of Transport plans to submit to the City People's Council for approval of investment policies for many other projects at the upcoming meeting, such as: Beltway 2 section from Phu Huu Bridge to Hanoi Highway, installing elevators at the pedestrian bridges of Metro Line 1, building embankments and dredging the right bank of the Saigon River (Binh Thanh District)...
