Arousing love for the sea and islands in the young generation

On September 17, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command coordinated with the People's Committee of Lang Son city to organize the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands", with the participation of many students from 5 secondary schools in the city including: Vinh Trai, Hoang Van Thu, Tam Thanh, Chi Lang, Hoang Dong.

As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 3 first prizes, 1 second prize, 1 third prize and 6 encouragement prizes to students with high achievements.

Speaking here, Chairman of Lang Son City People's Committee Nguyen Van Hanh said that the contest is one of the effective activities to propagate and popularize legal education. This is also a healthy and useful playground, a practical extracurricular activity in education, equipping students with knowledge about the sea and islands of the Fatherland, making an important contribution to the cause of building a national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, the "people's hearts posture" is increasingly solid...

At the contest, Colonel Bui Dai Hai, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Vietnam Coast Guard, said that over the past 10 years, the Coast Guard Command and its affiliated agencies and units have chaired, coordinated, and organized nearly 100 "I love my homeland's sea and islands" contests in 28 provinces and cities. The contest attracted the participation of 272 secondary schools with more than 6,770 students directly competing.

The contest has truly become a festival, fostering the love for the sea and islands of the Fatherland, raising the sense of responsibility of the young generation right from when they are still in school. The contest is a highlight, demonstrating the creativity of the Vietnam Coast Guard in propaganda work, disseminating legal education, creating positive effects, spreading widely in society...

In the past time, together with the organization of the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands", the Coast Guard Command has mobilized about 12 billion VND from organizations, individuals, businesses, and sponsors to carry out social security and environmental protection activities; presented over 2,300 gifts to policy families, people with revolutionary contributions and over 3,740 scholarships, over 1,650 bicycles, over 16,000 student notebooks; provided free medical examination and medicine to over 2,670 people...

On this occasion, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command presented 58 gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, veteran revolutionary cadres, pre-uprising cadres, wounded soldiers, policy families and presented 70 bicycles to poor but excellent students in Lang Son city.
