England star Phil Foden has left the Three Lions' EURO 2024 base and returned home due to "urgent family matters".
"Phil Foden has temporarily left the England training camp and returned to the UK due to an urgent family matter," the FA said in a statement.
According to British media, Foden returned home to welcome the birth of his third child. Previously, the Man City striker had two children with his partner Rebecca Cooke, including a boy and a girl.
Foden's son, Ronnie, who is an Instagram sensation with millions of followers, revealed in April that the Foden family were expecting their third child. The family sighed as they posed with the words "Baby Foden" written on a photo shared to Ronnie's Instagram account.
Foden is famous not only for his football talent, but also because he became a father at a very young age (18 years old). Over the years, the love between Foden and Rebecca Cooke has also gone through many ups and downs, but the two are still together until now.
Foden was still involved in England's final group game against Slovenia. After the match, the striker is said to have left the training camp and immediately flown back to England.
The 2023-24 Premier League Player of the Year has started all three of England's EURO 2024 group stage games, playing the full 90 minutes against Serbia, before being substituted in draws against Denmark and Slovenia.
Foden has developed into an important player for the Three Lions, missing only one match since March 2023. Due to finishing the season later than his teammates, Foden was allowed to join up later and missed the friendly against Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The 24-year-old striker was a key cog in the Citizens' defence of the Premier League title last season. Meanwhile, Foden also has four goals in 37 appearances for England, including a strike against Wales in the 2022 World Cup group stage.
While Foden has yet to score at EURO 2024, he was involved in a goal that was disallowed in the Three Lions' match against Slovenia. Foden got in behind the opposition defence before passing the ball to Bukayo Saka, but the pass was ruled offside.
Foden is expected to return to Germany before June 30, when the "Three Lions" meet Slovakia in the round of 16 of EURO 2024.
