Khammuan has also raised funds to prepare for the Tourism Year with the aim of welcoming more domestic and foreign tourists to the locality. Activities include running online advertisements, opening skills training courses for service staff and creating a mechanism to provide better services for foreign tourists coming to Laos via the 3rd Friendship Bridge (connecting Thailand’s Nakhon Phanom province with Laos’ Khammuan province) and the Naphao International Border Gate (in Bualapha district, Khammuan province, opposite the Cha Lo International Border Gate, Quang Binh province, Vietnam).
Mr. Xaysomboun Souvandala added that all hotels, motels and restaurants have also been inspected to meet standards to be able to welcome tourists regularly.
Some attractive tourist destinations expected to attract many tourists to Khammuan include: Tha Fhalang, Phathat Toum Phavang, Kong Lo cave...
Khammuan has many conservation areas, special-use forests, and national parks such as Nakai - Namtheun, Phou Hinboun, Hin Namno... with a rich limestone mountain ecosystem, suitable for nature and exploration tourism. (Photo: Vientiane Times)

Khammuan province has 209 tourist attractions, of which 145 are natural tourist attractions, 33 are cultural tourist attractions and 31 are historical tourist attractions.
Along with efforts to best prepare for Visit Laos Year 2024, the government aims to welcome at least 4.6 million tourists next year, including at least 2.7 million foreign tourists, generating revenue of 712 million USD.
Laos's choice of 2024 as the "Year of Tourism" symbolizes a strong commitment to restore the "smokeless industry" that has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
