Positioning the capital's tourism brand

Hanoi’s night tour products have been maintained for many years to promote the development of the capital’s cultural industry. The newness and innovation of the destination units have brought a unique identity to Hanoi tourism.

In 2017, the live performance “Quintessence of the North” premiered on a large stage with an area of 4,300m2 at the foot of Thay Pagoda Mountain (Sai Son Commune, Quoc Oai District) and made a strong impression on domestic and international tourists, becoming a mark of the capital’s tourism. Up to now, Hanoi has had many more attractive and innovative night performances. It is worth mentioning that the technology factor has become an indispensable part of night tours.

Typically, the night tour at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam brings a difference with the 3D mapping light projection product (the technique of using light and images to create 3D effects on a surface) to convey the content of philosophy. Most recently, the night tour "Ngoc Son - Mysterious Night" combines both 3D mapping lighting technology and semi-realistic performance. After its launch, the program received many positive responses.

Talking about the development of night tourism products, Director of the Hanoi Monuments and Landscapes Management Board Nguyen Doan Van expressed his thoughts: “Heritage, no matter how valuable, is just a “resource”. To create an attraction to attract tourists, it is necessary to turn that heritage value into a cultural product. Therefore, with the direction and orientation of the city, we strive to implement night tours to contribute to positioning the cultural and tourism brand for the capital”.

According to Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, investing in technology for night tours requires a huge cost, but the unit still strives to maintain it to create a regular cultural and tourist destination for visitors.

The Hanoi Party Committee issued Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU on the development of cultural industries in the capital for the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030 and a vision to 2045, with the goal of maximizing the potential, strengths, and cultural values that bear the identity of the capital, turning those values into development resources for the capital's economy and society. With that spirit, destination units strive to build attractive cultural and tourism products that are imbued with the quintessence and culture of Hanoi to create their own identity.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that in the near future, the Department of Tourism will coordinate with localities to review and propose the development of more night tourism products. "The products must ensure the promotion of existing potential and the characteristics of each locality," Ms. Dang Huong Giang clearly stated.
