Exploiting river sand to serve the construction of the highway through Soc Trang

On June 30, the People's Committee of Soc Trang province coordinated with the Truong Son 12 Management Board (under Truong Son Construction Corporation) to start exploiting river sand at MS05 mine on Hau River to serve the construction of component project 4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway construction investment project phase 1.

Component project 4 through Soc Trang province has a total length of about 58.4km running through My Tu, My Xuyen and Tran De districts.

According to the People's Committee of Soc Trang province, the MS05 sand mine is located in An Thanh 1 and An Thanh Dong communes (Cu Lao Dung district) with an area of ​​about 100 hectares.

The total sand reserves allowed for exploitation are more than 1,141 million m3, with a period of two years, mineral exploitation is only carried out from 7am to 5pm daily (no exploitation at night).

Of which, the first year will exploit one million m3, the second year more than 141,000 m3. Exploitation period is until the end of May 2026.

Mining depth from cote level -8.5m to cote level -16m. Total amount of mineral exploitation rights is over 7.7 billion VND.

This is one of five sand mines (total area of ​​over 450ha, reserve of over 11 million m3) on Hau River in Soc Trang province. The People's Committee of this province has prepared documents and procedures to hand over to contractors for exploitation according to a special mechanism to construct component project 4.

Speaking at the sand mining ceremony on Hau River, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam, Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee, requested that during the sand mining process, the contractor must absolutely ensure the State's policy, ensure safety, correct designation, location, transportation, and proper use for the expressway project according to a special mechanism.

"Sea sand mining contractors must carry out mineral exploitation activities, using means and equipment according to the design.

At the same time, the exploitation system, exploitation technology, exploitation sequence, and construction organization measures have been assessed, approved, ratified, confirmed, and ensured in accordance with legal regulations," Mr. Nam noted.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province also requested that contractors strictly implement regulations throughout the exploitation process to ensure labor safety.

The contractor must closely coordinate with the province's interdisciplinary working group in supervising and transporting sand and must strictly comply with regulations.

At the same time, provincial departments and local authorities must pay attention and provide maximum support to project contractors, promptly coordinate to remove difficulties and obstacles to speed up project completion.
