(CLO) On the evening of February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of Lunar New Year) at the special national relic Go Dong Da (Hanoi), the People's Committee of Dong Da district held a festival to celebrate the 236th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory (1789-2025).
The event was held to honor and commemorate the great contributions of Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue and the Tay Son army generals who bravely fought against foreign invaders to maintain national independence.
At the opening ceremony, Chairman of Dong Da District People's Committee Le Tuan Dinh reviewed the heroic history of the nation. Accordingly, in the spring of the year of Ky Dau 1789, under the talented and creative command of Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, the Tay Son army launched a lightning-fast attack, defeated 290,000 Manchu troops, achieved the victory of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da, liberated the capital of Thang Long.

This is the greatest and most glorious feat in the history of our nation's resistance against foreign invaders and will forever be the pride of the nation. The battle of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da demonstrated the military art of the "hero in cloth and red flag" Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, which is: "Lightning speed - Boldness - Surprise". With this great victory, our nation defeated the invasion of the Qing army, maintaining national independence.
"The Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory and the name and career of the great Emperor Quang Trung have become a shining example of intelligence, skillful military art, typical of the tradition of patriotism, the indomitable spirit of fighting against foreign invaders of our nation, a historical testament to the thousand-year-old tradition of patriotism, love of independence and freedom of our people; an affirmation of the spirit of solidarity, bravery, indomitable will; an immortal heroic epic in the history of the great struggle to build and defend the country of our nation" - Chairman of Dong Da District People's Committee emphasized.
According to Mr. Le Tuan Dinh, 2025 is the year of many important political events in the capital and the country, the year of Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Congress of the Party. This is also the year that Hanoi continues to implement the theme: "Discipline - Responsibility - Action - Creativity - Development", associated with the implementation of Resolution 15 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks of developing the capital until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

After the ceremony, the art program "Dong Da - Golden History - Steadfast Future" was performed in the form of semi-realistic scenes combined with modern 3D mapping technology... The program vividly recreated the people's lives in the context of the late 18th century, the chaos and disorder of the royal court, the Trinh - Nguyen conflict period, the country divided into Dang Trong - Dang Ngoai, the fierce spirit in the battles of the Tay Son insurgents.

The audience felt like they were in the rapid march of the Tay Son army, surrounded by elephants, horses, spears, bows and arrows... sometimes they felt like they were standing on a warship in the battle of Rach Gam Xoai Mut, sometimes they felt like they were rejoicing in the triumph of the people of Thang Long in the Spring of Ky Dau year 1789.
The festival celebrating the 236th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory will last from now until February 4. During the festival, there will be many special activities such as: incense offering and sacrificial ceremonies by local sacrificial groups; palanquin procession; lion and dragon dance performances; Binh Dinh Gia martial arts performances; chess and human chess competitions; calligraphy, introduction of traditional arts...
