In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Si Ma Cai district, gave an overview of Si Ma Cai district, the upstream of the Chay River with beautiful natural landscapes, majestic mountains and home to many ethnic minorities, mainly the Mong ethnic group with a rich cultural identity.
Through the organization of the program, Si Ma Cai hopes that people and tourists will have an experience of nature, culture and people; create an impression to attract tourists to the borderland imbued with the fairy tale of the divine horse, explore the villages that still preserve long-standing traditional cultural features and enjoy agricultural products such as pears, plums, persimmons, etc. made by the highland farmers themselves.

In particular, the special art performances performed in the opening ceremony praised the homeland, the country, the borderland and the people of Si Ma Cai; expressing the traditional culture of the ethnic groups.
The Si Ma Cai - Highland Flavors program takes place from June 28 to 30, 2024. During this time, many activities will take place such as: The 2nd Ta Van Plum Festival in Seng Sui village, Lung Than commune; agricultural and folk culture festival, ethnic costume performance contest and unique highland culinary space at Si Ma Cai District Central Stadium, Si Ma Cai town; mountain climbing sports competition "Conquering Din Phang peak" and many other attractive cultural, artistic and sports activities.
