(NLDO) - During the 4-day Tet holiday, the number of passengers flying through Tan Son Nhat was 592,000, an increase of 12% over the same period. Flight delays and cancellations are inevitable, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
According to information from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, in the 4 days before Tet, only the 3 largest airports in Vietnam achieved many positive results in air transport data: Tan Son Nhat International Airport achieved 3.9 thousand take-offs and landings, approximately 592 thousand passengers and approximately 5.8 thousand tons of cargo (corresponding to an increase of 9.7% in take-offs and landings, an increase of 12.0% in passengers and an increase of 1.7% in cargo compared to the same period in 2024).
Noi Bai International Airport achieved more than 2,300 take-offs and landings, approximately 385,000 passengers and more than 8,700 tons of cargo (equivalent to an increase of 10.9% in take-offs and landings, an increase of 18.5% in passengers and an increase of 15.3% in cargo compared to the same period in 2024).

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, during the peak period of Lunar New Year 2025, especially in the days close to Lunar New Year 2025, the number of passengers at airports will increase very high, putting great pressure on the aviation infrastructure system and the quality of passenger services.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam acknowledges the special efforts and endeavors of all agencies and units providing aviation services that have arranged and allocated resources with the goal of best serving the air transport needs of passengers, ensuring aviation security and safety.
The Civil Aviation Authority assessed that flight delays and cancellations are inevitable during peak seasons. The punctuality rate of Vietnamese airlines is closely linked to the operational system at airports and greatly affects the quality of passenger service.
To improve service quality, the Civil Aviation Authority recommends that Vietnamese airlines and ground service companies improve the quality of flight schedule management, ensure compliance with confirmed slots according to regulations, limit delays and cancellations due to subjective reasons; arrange representatives and service staff to be present regularly to support and guide passengers at check-in counters, aviation security screening areas and baggage claim areas, promptly resolve passenger inquiries and complaints, and avoid disrupting security and order at the airport.
Airlines regularly coordinate with ground service units to evaluate and forecast production output to promptly plan and proactively serve flights; fully perform obligations regarding non-refundable advance compensation and passenger services at airports when delays or cancellations occur.
For Vietnam Airports Corporation and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, the Authority recommends focusing on arranging maximum equipment and resources during the next peak period, optimizing flight operations capacity, especially at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai international airports. Strengthening coordination with airlines in air traffic operations, rational and scientific parking areas to optimize time and increase operational capacity.
For Airport Authorities, strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of regulations on the performance of obligations of airlines in cases where passengers are denied transportation, flights are canceled, flights are delayed for a long time; provide information and instructions for passengers traveling by air to ensure they stay on schedule.
In addition, the Civil Aviation Authority requests that leaders of agencies, units and enterprises pay attention to ensuring working conditions and policies for employees; promptly detect and commend good people and good deeds; encourage, reward and propose competent authorities to reward collectives and individuals with initiatives to improve work, resolve limitations, obstacles and difficulties in work, and achieve excellent results in performing assigned tasks; at the same time, seriously correct signs of spirit and service attitude that violate standards, behavioral culture, regulations of agencies and enterprises, violations of work procedures and legal regulations; determined to absolutely ensure security and safety.
