On the afternoon of October 30, Road Management Area III (QLDB Area III) announced that it had completed repairing landslides on Ho Chi Minh Road and Truong Son Dong Road through Kon Tum province.
According to the National Highway QLDB III, due to the impact of storm No. 6, there was prolonged heavy rain in Dak Glei district (Kon Tum). Early in the morning of October 30, on the Ho Chi Minh road, a landslide occurred at Km 1425+600 on Lo Xo pass (in Dak Man commune, Dak Glei district) with a volume of about 500m3, causing difficulties for traffic.
A large amount of rock, soil and trees fell on Truong Son Dong road.
Also this morning, at Km 194+250 of Truong Son Dong road, through Ngok Yeu commune (Kon Plong, Kon Tum province), a landslide on the right side of the road caused traffic congestion for many hours.
Specifically, the landslide site is about 70m long, 8.5m wide, and 1.2m high on average: The estimated volume is about 200m3 of rock and soil, and 7 iron bridge railing compartments and 30m of soft guardrails are damaged.
Immediately after the landslide, the National Highway Management Area III directed Kon Tum Road Management Joint Stock Company to mobilize machinery to level and clear rocks and ensure traffic. By about 9:00 a.m. the same day, the landslide sites were cleared and traffic was moving normally.
Mr. Nguyen Quang, Director of Kon Tum Road Management Joint Stock Company, said that currently there is still rain in the area, landslides may continue to occur, so in addition to placing warning signs, the unit also arranges machinery and human resources to be on duty 24/7 on the route, especially at landslide risk points to be ready to deploy remedial measures, to ensure safety and smooth traffic for people and vehicles traveling on the route.
