Macrumors cited sources from Korea revealing that the iPhone 16 Pro coming out this year will have storage options up to 2TB.
Accordingly, information aggregator account yeux1122 on the Naver blog platform said that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have double the maximum storage capacity compared to the iPhone 15 Pro models.
This move is said to be the result of Apple starting to self-supply QLC (Quad Level Cell) NAND memory chips for the next generation of iPhones with large storage capacities of up to 2TB, at a cheaper price.
Apple's use of QLC NAND could allow it to pack more memory into a smaller space at a price that's three times cheaper than the TLC memory that current iPhones use.
Additionally, QLC memory has the disadvantage of being less resilient than TLC memory, making it less reliable. It also has a lower read cycle count than its competitors as well as a lower transfer rate.
However, the advantage of QLC is that it allows the use of 4 bits of data per memory cell instead of 3, so on a chip format similar to TLC memory, QLC can provide more storage capacity while being cheaper to manufacture.

Notably, recent leaked news also said that the iPhone 16 will have an integrated Capture Button.
Compared to the physical button currently on Xperia phones, the Capture Button will have more functions. iPhone 16 Pro users can zoom in and out of images by swiping the Capture Button left or right, or pressing it lightly once will help the device focus and record video when pressed harder.
The new button will encourage iPhone users to shoot more videos, according to The Information. Along with developing new features to support video recording, Apple hopes to attract more users and boost sales for the iPhone 16 generation.
Apple's iPhone 16 series is expected to launch next September. Up to now, the iPhone 16 has not been officially finalized, so the design and features can still change in the future.
