These projects, when put into operation, not only increase the rate of households using clean water, improve people's health and lives, but also contribute to perfecting technical infrastructure criteria and protecting underground water resources.
7 projects in progress
Trang Bom district currently has surplus points according to the town criteria in Resolution No. 26/2022/UBTVQH15 issued in 2022 by the National Assembly Standing Committee. However, there are some criteria that the district has not met, including clean water for daily life. By the end of 2024, the district will achieve a rate of 100% of households using hygienic water, but the rate of urban households using water from centralized surface water supply works (also known as tap water) is only about 48%, while in rural areas, only 9/16 communes have clean water supply pipelines, so this rate is more than 36%.
In order to improve the above rate, the district on the one hand directed specialized departments and offices together with the People's Committees of communes and towns to collect statistics on people's demand for clean water; propagate and mobilize people to register to use tap water in areas where water supply pipelines have been invested in to promote the effectiveness of the project. On the other hand, the district invited the clean water investment enterprise in the area, Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company, to participate in surveying the current situation, agreeing on the implementation plan and urging the implementation of projects to connect and expand the urban clean water network to communes; investing in additional water supply networks in alleys for people's convenience.
By the end of 2024, Trang Bom district had more than 3.7/7.7 thousand urban households using tap water, reaching a rate of nearly 48%. About 35.8/98.6 thousand rural households used tap water, reaching a rate of more than 36%.
Vice Chairman of Trang Bom District People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Tan informed that the district is implementing many tap water supply systems for communes. Of which, Tay Hoa Commune Water Supply System Project serves about 2,100 households; Dong Hoa Commune Water Supply System Project serves more than 2,100 households; Hung Thinh Commune Water Supply System Project serves about 800 households; Project to increase source and install water supply pipelines for the area along Provincial Road 767 in Bac Son Commune serves about 4,000 households... These projects, when put into operation, not only increase the rate of households using clean water, improve people's health and living conditions, but also contribute to completing the criteria for urban technical infrastructure for the district and protecting underground water sources.
Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Trang Bom District Phan Trung Tinh assessed that in recent times, the coordination of clean water supply projects has been directed by the District Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee, and functional agencies and People's Committees of communes and towns have made great efforts in implementation. The evidence is a series of projects that are being and will be implemented. In the process of propagating and mobilizing people to use clean water, agencies, departments and branches also focus on resolving people's recommendations, proposals and aspirations to create high consensus.
Encourage people to use tap water
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung (residing in Nhan Hoa hamlet, Tay Hoa commune) said that the area where he lives has abundant underground water but the quality is not assured. Therefore, every household here buys a water filter to protect their health. After completing the construction of the Tay Hoa Commune Water Supply System Project, he will definitely install a water meter for use.
Vice Chairman of Dong Hoa Commune People's Committee Tran Khac Duong shared that in 2024, the commune will have a new tap water line along National Highway 1A, but only a few households have registered to use it. To convince the enterprise to continue investing in the branch pipeline to the hamlets, the commune invited the leaders of Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company, Long Binh Water Supply Branch and the people of the hamlets to meet to discuss and agree on a plan. At this meeting, the parties focused on solving issues of concern to the people such as: registration documents, support policies of the enterprise. In addition, the commune organized to collect documents at the hamlet cultural house. Thanks to that, within a month of implementation (March 2025), 71/91 households submitted documents to install tap water meters, reaching a rate of 78%.
According to Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company, the company has invested in infrastructure and is providing clean water to Trang Bom town and 9/16 communes. The remaining communes are implementing projects and making plans for implementation. In addition to the ongoing projects, the company plans to implement 6 more projects in the communes: Thanh Binh, Doi 61, An Vien and Trang Bom town.
Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company also pointed out some difficulties and recommended local support. That is, the rate of households using tap water in some areas where infrastructure has been invested is still low, causing waste of investment resources and affecting the efficiency of the project. Localities need to strengthen propaganda and mobilization so that people in areas where pipelines pass through can use tap water. The District Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department is requested to soon propose an investment plan to connect to areas without water pipelines so that the District People's Committee and enterprises can agree on a basis for implementation. The district directs the commune level to consider supporting the confirmation of cases of clean water registration but without separate house/land papers, land purchased by hand, one red book but many households living together... to be eligible for clean water meter installation.
Vice Chairman of Trang Bom District People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Tan said that bringing clean water to rural areas not only contributes to improving people's lives, but also promotes socio-economic development, creating a premise for sustainable development of the locality. The district will direct communes and towns to continue to propagate and mobilize people to switch to using tap water.
