Being a poor household with no land for production and working for hire every day to earn a living, for many years, Ms. Truong Thi My Duyen, Nga Bat Hamlet, Tran Phan Commune, had to live in a dilapidated house that did not provide shelter from the rain and sun, but had no money to repair it. She was very happy when she recently received 60 million VND from the local government to support her with the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses, and was able to build a decent house.
Ms. Duyen said: “Before, the old house was dilapidated and flooded heavily due to the rain and wind. Now that the local authorities have supported us to build a new house, my husband and I are very happy and are trying to work hard to escape poverty.”

Mr. Truong Cong Trang, Hiep Hoa Tay hamlet, Ngoc Chanh commune, is a poor household with no land for production and facing many difficulties in daily life. His family has just built a new house worth over 100 million VND, of which the State supported 60 million VND, the family contributed the rest.
Mr. Trang shared: “My wife and I have lived together for more than 10 years. Due to difficult circumstances, we had to change the house every 3 years. Now, thanks to the State's support, my wife and I have been able to save a little over the past decade, and we have added more to build a more solid house. We thank the State very much.”
Due to having no land for production and having to work for hire every day, for many years now, Mr. Truong Van Toan, in Tan An Ninh B hamlet, Ta An Khuong Nam commune, has not been able to build a new house, even though his temporary house has deteriorated. With the State's support of 60 million VND, plus the help from his family and relatives, his family has a new house worth over 170 million VND. He is very excited and grateful for the attention of the Party, the State, the local government, and his relatives. This is the motivation for his family to rise up.
Implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the whole district has 698 households supported with more than 39.3 billion VND to build new and repair houses, of which 614 new houses were built and 84 houses were repaired. To date, the district has completed 117 houses, the remaining houses have been built at 50-90%.
In addition to mobilizing the fund for the poor and other legal sources for support, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district also actively mobilized relatives of the beneficiaries to contribute to make the house more spacious.
Mr. Bui Cong Danh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district, said: “Through mobilization, relatives of poor and near-poor households, households with meritorious services, and ethnic minority households provided additional support. In general, all households contributed an additional 10-20 million VND, sometimes more. The houses are of guaranteed quality and beautiful design.”
Promoting the spirit of "whoever has something to help", Dam Doi district has been actively mobilizing the entire political and social system to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for households with meritorious services, poor and near-poor households, and ethnic minority households facing housing difficulties in the district./.
