Mr. Tran Van Sang's household in Rau Dua hamlet is a near-poor household with no land for production, earning a living by working for hire, and is facing housing difficulties. The local government has considered and included him in the housing support program under the Temporary House Elimination and Dilapidated House Elimination Program, a form of new construction investment with a support amount of 60 million VND/house. Through the propaganda and mobilization work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, relatives lent him 20 million VND without interest. During the process of building the house, Mr. Sang's household also actively contributed working days to save costs and speed up the construction progress.

In the same Rau Dua hamlet, Mr. Nguyen Tri Toan's household is a near-poor household with little productive land, living on hired labor, the family's life is short of money, unable to improve their housing, so they are considered for support to build a new house. After many years of working as a construction worker, Mr. Toan has accumulated experience, designed and built by himself, so he does not have to hire anyone; thanks to that, the 60 million VND supported by the State is basically enough to buy materials to build the house.

Ms. Duong Thi Be Ngoan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung My commune, encouraged Mr. Tran Van Sang's family to contribute labor days to save on investment costs for building the house.

Above are 2 of 16 houses under the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households that is being implemented and accelerated by Hung My commune. Ms. Duong Thi Be Ngoan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune, said: “With the support amount of 60 million VND/house, poor and near-poor households can hardly build new houses that meet the "3 hard" criteria. The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune organized a campaign to support the poor, aiming to achieve the sole goal of supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Through the campaign, relatives, neighbors, and benefactors inside and outside the area actively contributed more than 200 million VND to support poor and near-poor households to build houses”.

Mr. Tran Hoang Dao, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said that with the high determination of the entire political system, the progress of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the commune has been accelerated, with 10/16 houses having completed over 90% of the work and the remaining 50-60% completed. Currently, the families receiving the houses are speeding up the construction progress, determined to complete and put them into use before April 30./.
