Plane carrying Malawi's Vice President missing . A military plane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine others, including former First Lady Shanil Dzimbiri, took off at around 9am on June 10 from the capital Lilongwe to the city of Mzuzu, more than 370km away. According to the plan, the delegation was to attend the funeral of a former Malawian minister.

" The pilot was unable to land at Mzuzu due to bad weather, which limited visibility. Aviation authorities advised the plane to return to Lilongwe, but contact was lost shortly afterwards ," Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera said, describing the situation as "heartbreaking".

Mr Chakwera said all resources were being mobilized to search for the plane, hoping to find survivors. The Malawian president denied local media reports that the search operation had been suspended overnight.

French President dissolves Parliament . President Emmanuel Macron's move comes after polls showed the French ruling party losing the European Parliament elections.

Mr. Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly to hold early general elections after the ruling Renaissance Party in France suffered a heavy defeat in the European parliamentary elections.

According to a reliable poll after the European Parliament elections in France on June 9, Mr. Macron's center-right Renaissance Party is expected to win only 14.8 - 15.2% of the vote. This is considered a rather disappointing prediction because the far-right National Rally (RN) of the opposition led by Ms. Marine Le Pen is expected to win 31.5 - 33% of the vote. The Socialist Party came in third with 14% of the vote.

Belarus joins nuclear drills with Russia . Belarus said its military is taking part in the second phase of a Russian exercise to practice deploying tactical nuclear weapons.

The first phase of the exercises took place in southern Russia last month, in a move analysts said was a warning signal from President Putin to deter the West from further intervention in the conflict in Ukraine.

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said the exercise was a proactive measure aimed at "increasing readiness to use so-called retaliatory weapons."

Houthis arrest spies linked to US and Israel . The Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement claims to have arrested a spy cell linked to the US intelligence agency, which it has accused of carrying out espionage and sabotage operations in Yemen for decades.

A US-Israeli spy network has been uncovered ,” the Houthi report said.

According to the Houthi security agency, "the US-Israeli spy network has direct links to the CIA". The Houthis claim that "this spy network" is provided with special equipment that allows it to carry out operations secretly.

The spy network has been providing the CIA and Israel's Mossad with extremely sensitive, secret military and security information for decades ,” the Houthis stressed.

" We voted for peace ," US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield said after the vote.

Israel launched an airstrike deep into Lebanon . According to the Lebanese side, the target attacked by the Israeli air force on the evening of June 10 was located in the Hermel district in northeastern Lebanon, about 130km from the Israeli border. This is the deepest location in Lebanese territory attacked by the Israeli air force since the beginning of the fierce fighting that broke out on October 8, 2023 between the Israeli army and Hezbollah forces.

Sources did not say what damage the airstrike caused, but confirmed that it was Israel's retaliation for a series of Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel in recent days.

Hezbollah has significantly increased its missile and drone attacks on Israel in recent times. Last week, Lebanon’s largest armed group fired 149 missiles and 53 drones at Israel. The Hezbollah attacks killed one Israeli soldier and wounded 38 people, including soldiers and civilians.

Hezbollah continues to shoot down Israeli UAVs . Hezbollah claims to have shot down Israel's third Hermes 900 UAV, even though Tel Aviv once considered this weapon beyond its ability to intercept.

The Israeli military confirmed that one of its UAVs was hit by an anti-aircraft missile while operating in Lebanese airspace, was damaged and crashed in the country's territory, but did not mention the type.

This is the third time Hezbollah has claimed to have shot down an Israeli Hermes 900 UAV since cross-border fighting between the two sides broke out eight months ago.
