On the windy hillsides of Muong Sang, the winter air is filled with urgency and excitement. Farmers are focusing on the winter vegetable crop, determined to become "high-quality food" on every family's Tet table.
An Tam Safe Vegetable Cooperative (HTX An Tam) with 18 hardworking and brave members, currently owns 10 hectares of "green food garden". Of which, 8 hectares meet the prestigious VietGAP standards, ensuring food safety for each bunch of vegetables brought to the market. Aiming at the nutritional needs of Tet, the Cooperative focuses on growing nutritious, easy-to-process vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, and herbs. Not only serving the province, An Tam vegetable products are also available on the shelves of major supermarkets across the country.
The family of Nguyen Van Son, a member of the cooperative, has been quietly preparing for a bumper crop. He meticulously uses organic fertilizers and biological products to care for nearly 1 hectare of organic vegetables. The price of green vegetables is predicted to increase at the end of the year and Mr. Son is making every effort to provide quality vegetables to meet market demand and increase his family's income.
Muong Sang Commune is proud to be the "vegetable capital" of Moc Chau District, with 120 hectares of vegetables spread across the villages. Identifying the winter crop as the main crop, the commune has constantly improved farming techniques and transferred VietGAP methods to the people.
Mr. Bui Trung Luc, Chairman of Muong Sang Commune People's Committee, said that, aiming to effectively serve the Tet vegetable market, the commune regularly coordinates with specialized units of the district to organize training courses, transfer science and technology and guide farmers to grow vegetables according to VietGAP standards. At the same time, assign specialized staff to closely follow the fields, investigate and monitor the emergence of harmful organisms on vegetables; instruct farmers to prioritize the use of cultivation measures, biological measures, use biological products in pest control, only use chemicals when really necessary and must comply with the "4 rights" principle.
Sharing the same excitement, Muong Sang commune also encourages businesses and cooperatives to link up to consume vegetable products according to a sustainable value chain. The lush green vegetable fields stretching across the fields signal a warm and prosperous spring for local people. However, Muong Sang farmers are always alert to changes in the weather, ready to cope with all difficulties to maintain the productivity and quality of Tet vegetables. Because a successful crop not only ensures nutritional needs for everyone, but also brings joy and appreciation to the hard-working and skillful farmers.
