More than 90% of parents in Ho Chi Minh City are satisfied with public schools.

90.2% of surveyed parents in Ho Chi Minh City are satisfied with public education services, lower than last year (90.78%).

On September 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of measuring people's satisfaction with public education services in the area in 2023.

600 high school students and more than 6,400 parents from kindergarten to high school were randomly selected from 36 schools in District 3, Tan Phu and Cu Chi districts to participate in the survey. Of which, District 3 was identified as belonging to the high development group, Tan Phu was in the development group, and Cu Chi was in the average group.

Parents of high school students were given direct survey forms. Parents of other levels were surveyed online. The measurement criteria include access to education; facilities and teaching equipment; educational environment; educational activities; development and fulfillment of civic duties of students.

As a result, the overall satisfaction rate of parents with public education services in 2023 was 90.2%, reaching the target set by the Department of Education and Training, but lower than last year (90.78%). Of which, the satisfaction rate for educational activities was the highest (91%), while the lowest was the satisfaction rate for facilities and teaching equipment (89.4%).

If classified by level of education, the satisfaction rate of parents decreases from preschool to high school. Specifically, more than 96% of preschool parents are satisfied with public school education - the highest, while high school parents have the lowest satisfaction rate - only 84.27%.

The overall satisfaction rate of high school students with educational services reached 90.6%, higher than last year (84.29%). Like parents, the highest student satisfaction rate was in educational activities and the lowest in facilities.

Analyzing the survey results by location, parents and students in Cu Chi district (average group) have a higher satisfaction rate with public education than those in District 3 and Tan Phu (highly developed and developed groups). The overall satisfaction rate of parents in Cu Chi district is 91.26%, while in Tan Phu district it is 88.08% and in District 3 it is more than 89.9%.

This result is also similar to the students' assessment. 99.88% of students in Cu Chi district are satisfied with public education services. The figures in Tan Phu district and District 3 are 87.42% and 93.18% respectively.

On a scale of 1 to 5 (1 is very dissatisfied; 2 is dissatisfied, 3 is normal, 4 is satisfied and 5 is very satisfied), the overall satisfaction score (average score) of parents this year reached 4.51, higher than 4.48 in 2022. For students, the overall satisfaction score was 4.53, higher than 4.37 in 2022.

In the five public education services surveyed, student satisfaction scores were higher than those of parents, all scoring 4 points or higher. The Department of Education and Training said that the overall satisfaction scores of parents and students with public education services according to all criteria were higher than last year.

"That partly proves that public education services of schools in the area have met the learning needs of students and the expectations of parents," the Department said.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the above survey results from 2021. According to the Department, helping schools in the area identify the needs and aspirations of parents and students to have measures to improve and enhance service quality and people's satisfaction.
