During the peak holiday season of April 30 - May 1 on domestic routes, domestic airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights, an average of 685 flights/day.
A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just informed that in order to meet the demand for air transport during the April 30-May 1 holiday and the peak summer season in 2025, domestic airlines have proactively prepared resources, added aircraft, and developed plans to increase flights to serve the peak season, especially increasing the supply capacity on domestic routes.
Specifically, on domestic routes, Vietnamese airlines plan to operate 7,536 flights (an average of 685 flights/day), up 24% and 21% respectively.
The total number of seats during this period is expected to be about 1.5 million seats, an increase of 20% compared to the flight schedule before increasing flights and 22% compared to the same period last year.
Of which, most of the flights are on routes to and from Ho Chi Minh City with 5,083 flights (average 462 flights/day), increasing by 21% and 21% respectively.
For the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route alone, airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, providing 305,000 seats.
During the peak summer period of 2025 (from May 15 to August 15), domestic airlines are expected to operate 68,558 flights on domestic routes.
Especially with flights to tourist destinations (Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Quy Nhon), airlines operate more than 20 thousand flights, accounting for 30% of the total number of flights.
For the main routes (Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City), airlines are expected to operate 26,800 flights with nearly 5.9 million seats.
For flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City alone, airlines have planned to operate 45,000 flights with 9.23 million seats, an average of 490 flights/day.
Request to adjust flight time increase
According to a survey, as of March 24, airfares for some flights to tourist destinations on April 30 such as Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Da Lat have increased sharply.
Vietnam Airlines' Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route from March 29 to May 2 increased by about 68% compared to the previous days' ticket prices, up to nearly 2.5 million VND/ticket. Meanwhile, Vietjet Air increased by 80% compared to the usual popular price to 890,000 VND/ticket (excluding taxes and fees).

Based on market demand and airlines' operating plans, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority said that the Authority has adjusted the coordination parameters at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Accordingly, the Department raised the coordination parameters to 46 trips/hour during daytime hours and 36 trips/hour during nighttime hours during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.
In addition, this airport is also required to increase the parameters to 44-46 flights/hour during daytime hours and 36 flights/hour during nighttime hours during the peak summer period of 2025 and the National Day holiday on September 2.
