Conference on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development in 2024

Responding to National Digital Transformation Day, on October 10, the Department of Information and Communications organized a Workshop on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development in Phu Tho Province in 2024.

Attending the workshop were comrades: Bui Van Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Digital Transformation; Tran Minh Tuan - Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society, Ministry of Information and Communications; leaders of departments, branches and units of the province; digital technology enterprises and representatives of a number of enterprises in the province.

In 2023, Phu Tho province will make a "breakthrough" in building digital government, specifically: Provincial competitiveness index ranked 10th, administrative reform index ranked 9th, satisfaction index on administrative services ranked 10th, provincial governance and public administration efficiency index ranked 24th, local innovation index ranked 20th.

In the field of digital economy and digital society, the province has soon issued the Development Plan for 2025, with a vision to 2030, and the Decision to issue the Program to support businesses in digital transformation in the province. In 2023, the proportion of digital economy will reach 12.5%, ranking 10th in the country. As of October 2024, the proportion of e-commerce in total retail sales will reach 9.7%; the proportion of digital economy workers will reach 4.9%; the proportion of the population aged 15 and over with electronic payment accounts will be 73.9%; the proportion of mobile subscribers using smartphones will reach 87.5%; the proportion of households with broadband fiber optic cables will reach 76.77%. The above figures show progress in people and businesses accessing and using digital services.

The organization and implementation of the Project "Developing the application of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve the national digital transformation in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030" (Project 06) has brought about many positive results. The whole province has issued over 1.3 million citizen identification cards, 979 thousand electronic identification accounts; completed the entry of civil status data on the national population database with 1,183,176 data, contributing to promoting the exploitation of utilities from Project 06 and logging in to resolve administrative procedures through online public services.

100% of medical facilities implement medical examination and treatment using citizen identification cards, VneID; 70% of patients use citizen identification cards, VneID to replace health insurance cards; implement non-cash payments in collecting tuition fees at educational institutions, paying pensions, and policies for people with meritorious services. By 2025, the digital economy accounts for more than 20% of GRDP, the proportion of digital economy in each industry and field reaches at least 10%; the rate of enterprises using electronic contracts reaches at least 80%...

Appreciating the initiative to organize the Workshop on Digital Economy and Digital Society Development in Phu Tho Province in 2024 by the Department of Information and Communications, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang affirmed: Digital transformation is a long-term strategy, creating new growth momentum contributing to the sustainable development of the province. In recent years, with the determination of the entire political system, Phu Tho has made many efforts to implement digital transformation on 3 pillars: Digital government, digital economy, digital society with the motto of digital government taking the lead, creating momentum to promote digital transformation in all economic and social fields.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Information and Communications - the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Digital Transformation to absorb and study the solutions provided by speakers and businesses; advise the Provincial People's Committee to deploy mechanisms, policies, plans, and strategies for developing the Digital Economy and Digital Society in the province to ensure effectiveness and suitability with reality.

Information technology enterprises continue to accompany Phu Tho province in implementing digital transformation tasks; proactively approach enterprises, cooperatives, and business households in the province to consult on appropriate digital solutions to innovate management models, organize production and business to increase productivity, improve product quality, increase revenue and profit for enterprises.

At the workshop, based on the analysis of actual conditions, Director of the Department of Digital Economy and Digital Society Tran Minh Tuan shared the orientations to promote Digital Economy and Digital Society in Phu Tho province and affirmed that he will continue to pay attention, accompany and support Phu Tho to carry out digital transformation in all fields, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the coming time.

On this occasion, businesses specializing in digital platforms and technologies displayed, introduced, and promoted digital transformation products, platforms, and digital technology solutions; discussed and proposed solutions for developing the Digital Economy and Digital Society, and discussed and answered questions related to this content. Thereby, creating a space for exchange, sharing, and practical experience for businesses in Phu Tho province.
