Field workshop on new generation Thien Uu 8 rice variety in Thuong Ninh commune

On the morning of May 10, in Thuong Ninh commune (Nhu Xuan), a field workshop was held on the new generation of Thien Uu 8 rice variety of Vietnam Seed Group Joint Stock Company (VINASEED).

The model was deployed in the spring crop of 2024 in Duc Thang village, Thuong Ninh commune with a scale of nearly 3 hectares, with 25 participating households. The new generation of Thien Uu 8 rice variety is of Vietnamese origin, exclusively produced and distributed by Vietnam Seed Group Joint Stock Company.

Through the planting time, it shows that the rice variety has a growing period of 125-130 days (spring crop), an average height of 100-105 cm, strong tillering, strong plants, good lodging resistance, pest and cold resistance, dark green leaves, long grains, high percentage of solid grains, good growth and development ability, can be planted in both crops (especially in the summer-autumn crop), good resistance to leaf blight, wide adaptability, fragrant rice quality, soft, sticky rice, rich flavor. Through initial assessment, the average yield is 3 quintals of dry rice/1 sao, 60 quintals/ha (dry rice).

During the implementation of the model, staff of Vietnam Seed Group Joint Stock Company and staff of Nhu Xuan District Agricultural Service Center directly guided the technical process from land preparation, sowing, care to harvest. Up to now, the model has been successful and has received positive response from households participating in the model. Through practical evaluation and comparison with other rice varieties, this rice variety has a higher yield. Thanks to the superiority of the new generation Thien Uu 8 rice variety, in 2025, Nhu Xuan district will expand the planting area in Tan Binh, Binh Luong communes, Yen Cat town and 6 highland communes.
