Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Mr. Ngo Quang Trung - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of the locality (Ministry of Industry and Trade) - said that the industrial promotion policy has been implemented synchronously and seriously in the past time, receiving the attention of sectors and levels from the direction to the guidance of the organization and implementation. In 2024, industrial promotion will move to the year of accelerating the implementation of the National Industrial Promotion Program for the period 2021-2025 as approved in Decision No. 1881/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister and the Industrial Promotion Program for the period issued by localities.

In recent times, despite many difficulties due to the prolonged impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, and the macro impacts of political and economic conflicts in the world, industrial promotion has played an important role in supporting rural enterprises and industrial establishments to overcome difficulties, restore production and business activities, stabilize and develop.
To continue effectively implementing industrial promotion activities, contributing to creating momentum for rural industrial development in the new situation, Mr. Ngo Quang Trung suggested that at the conference, delegates actively contribute ideas, focus on discussing and exchanging some contents:
Evaluate the results achieved in industrial promotion work in 2023 and the first 9 months of 2024 in the Southern region; existing limitations in the implementation process; identify causes to propose solutions.
Identify key tasks, effectively deploy and complete assigned projects/tasks in the last months of 2024; exchange experiences and lessons of 4 common values from the practice of organizing and implementing industrial promotion activities.
Discuss and propose specific and practical solutions to continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of direction and administration; coordination between the Central and local levels to resolve difficulties arising from practice in the process of organizing and implementing industrial promotion activities. In particular, propose common issues, viewpoints on innovation of mechanisms and policies, contribute opinions to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the local Department of Industry and Trade to have more theoretical and practical basis to develop and submit to the Government for promulgation of a Decree amending and supplementing Decree No. 45/2012/ND-CP of the Government on industrial promotion.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Truong Van Minh - Director of Kien Giang Department of Industry and Trade - stated that today's Southern Industrial Promotion Conference is of great significance to the industrial promotion activities of 20 southern provinces and cities. The conference aims to evaluate industrial promotion activities and propose solutions to carry out tasks in order to complete the set plan with the highest results. " I hope to receive many valuable opinions to improve the effectiveness of industrial promotion activities in Kien Giang in particular and the whole country in general ," said Mr. Truong Van Minh.
The leader of the Department of Industry and Trade of Kien Giang also informed that Kien Giang is a province in the Mekong Delta region located in the Southwest of the country with a total natural area of 6,343.27 km2, with geographical location: North borders the Kingdom of Cambodia with a 56.8 km long border; South borders Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces; East and Southeast borders An Giang province, Can Tho city and Hau Giang province; West borders the Gulf of Thailand with a 200 km long coastline.
Kien Giang has 15 administrative units at district and town levels. In particular, Kien Giang has a large sea area with 143 large and small islands, of which 43 are inhabited, the largest is Phu Quoc Island and the furthest is Tho Chu archipelago with a sea area of over 63,000 km2, concentrated in 5 archipelagos: Hai Tac archipelago, Ba Lua archipelago, An Thoi archipelago, Nam Du archipelago and Tho Chu archipelago; many estuaries and canals flow into the sea, creating a rich source of natural food for marine species to live and reproduce, being a key fishing ground of the whole country, suitable for the development of the province's marine economy.
According to information from the Organizing Committee, the Southern region includes 20 provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho City, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau.

The Southern region is a place with many outstanding advantages and conditions for developing industry and services, leading the industrialization and modernization of the country. In addition, with geopolitical advantages, rich natural resources and abundant resources, being the largest rice granary of the country, diverse fruit trees all year round, rich river resources, the Southern region is a place that provides diverse raw materials in the fields of agriculture, aquatic products... serving the industries - processing, consumption.
Considered a strategic factor in the overall territory of Vietnam, the Southern region is a place with strong economic growth with an attractive investment environment, with most of the local governments being dynamic; with a young, eager-to-learn workforce, which has been creating favorable conditions and potential development opportunities. Although many outstanding achievements have been made, in the current new context, when the country enters a new development cycle, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation and deep international integration, create opportunities but also bring many new challenges.
Promoting the potential advantages of the region, the Department of Industry and Trade of the provinces and cities in the Southern region has constantly strived to successfully complete the goals and tasks of industrial and trade development, including the industrial promotion plan, contributing positively to the development of the industry and trade sector in particular and the socio-economy of the whole country in general.
