Students participate in the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands"

On the morning of October 7, at Pho Vinh Secondary School (Duc Pho Town, Quang Ngai), the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 coordinated with the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee to organize the contest "I love my homeland's sea and islands".

At the program, 60 students directly participating in the competition had to go through 4 rounds, including: going out to sea, overcoming waves, docking, and setting up sovereignty markers.

The students enthusiastically raised their boards to answer multiple choice questions about history, geography, culture, law... with content related to Vietnam's seas and islands, Vietnam Coast Guard, famous people of the country, heroes with meritorious services to the country in their homeland Quang Ngai...

At the end of the contest, the organizers awarded first, second, third and consolation prizes to four students who answered the questions excellently. The organizers also gave gifts to students who did not directly participate in the contest but raised their hands and answered the questions correctly from the host.

"The contest aims to widely propagate to teachers and students to understand more about the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Help teachers and students grasp documents of the Party and State related to sovereignty over seas and islands; traditions of the Coast Guard force; history and traditions of Quang Ngai province and Duc Pho town... From there, raise awareness, strengthen solidarity between the army and people, consolidate patriotism, love for the homeland's sea and islands, promote the responsibility of citizens for the cause of building and firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland", said Colonel Kieu Khanh Dung, Political Commissar of the Command of Coast Guard Region 2.

On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 2 presented 10 bicycles and 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students with good academic performance, each scholarship worth 1 million VND; and presented a set of computers to Pho Vinh Secondary School.
