The special concert took place at the exact moment Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam 79 years ago.
National pride through music
Sharing at the press conference on August 21, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba - Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet Newspaper, Head of the Program Organizing Committee - said that 2024 is the year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army, so the works introduced in the national concert "What remains forever" organized by VietNamNet Newspaper also express the intense and profound love for the homeland, pride in the resounding victories in the nation's resistance wars and the great achievements of the renovation period.
All of this is expressed through the majestic and lyrical melodies of many generations of Vietnamese musicians, helping listeners relive the heroic and arduous years of the nation as well as discover the beauty of the Vietnamese soul.

Taking on the role of Music Director of the program - musician Tran Manh Hung expressed that participating in "Dieu con mai" is a great fate and he is very happy to accept this. The musician had 2 months of "losing sleep and appetite" to come up with ideas, edit the program and start working on the scores.
Choosing the performance time at 2:00 p.m. on September 2 at the only location, the Hanoi Opera House, in front of the historic August Revolution Square, "What Will Last Forever" has gone beyond the framework of a concert program, but more than that, is a special event to express national pride through music.
"The problem that VietNamNet Newspaper posed to me was too big. With the theme encapsulated in three phrases "army, victory and Hanoi people", I had to edit the songs to create a narrative starting from Uncle Ho reading the Declaration of Independence, the army marching to the Northwest, to Dien Bien with the sacrifices and losses of the soldiers to liberate Dien Bien, liberate the capital and create the strength of the Vietnamese army" - musician Tran Manh Hung said.
French conductor with Vietnam National Day
One of the interesting things about this year's "What Remains Forever" is the first time the "international" element has been introduced into the program with the participation of the Sun Symphony Orchestra and French conductor Olivier Ochanine. He is the one who has excelled over nearly 120 conductors from 23 countries around the world to win first prize at the Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition in Budapest - Hungary (2015), the prestigious music award The American Prize (2015), and won second prize at the International Symphony Orchestra Conducting Competition in London - England (2015).
Musician Tran Manh Hung said he and conductor Olivier Ochanine had overcome physical limitations and achieved the same level of artist harmony when exchanging work. Both of them aimed for the common goal of creating quality musical products. Meanwhile, conductor Olivier Ochanine expressed his pride at participating in a program celebrating Vietnam's National Day. "It's very interesting and I'm honored to participate in this program. I've worked in Vietnam for 7 years and cherish every moment of living here," said the French conductor. He also said he spent a lot of time studying the scores and lyrics of each piece to better understand the meaning of these songs.
If in 2023, saxophone artist An Tran, Oplus group, was the surprise factor in "Dieu con mai", this year, besides the reunion of these young faces, there is also the first appearance of the Ao linh group. These are 5 artists working in the military arts (Nguyen The Anh - Army Theater, Nguyen Huu Hoang Son - Military University of Culture and Arts, Lai Duc Tuan - Air Defense - Air Force Art Troupe, Vu Ha Son - Army Theater and Nguyen Ngoc Linh - Army Theater).
Besides the Ao linh group, Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi also participated in the program with two works "Se ve thu do" and "Tien ve Ha Noi". This year, besides the appearance of singers Trong Tan, Pham Khanh Ngoc, Phuc Tiep, the audience also enjoyed the voice of Nguyen Bao Yen (Sao Mai 2015 champion in chamber music, second prize winner of the Academia 2014 international vocal competition in Perm - Russia).
Musical Stories of the Past, Present and Future
"What Remains Forever" 2024 tells musical stories of the past, present and future in a musical space that is both luxurious and has modern and traditional elements.
The audience will enjoy famous works such as "Xanh quan xa" (Do Nhuan), "Bai ca tren nui" (Nguyen Van Thuong), "Ho keo Phao" (Hoang Van), "Be Van Dan song mai" (music: Huy Du, lyrics: adapted from Trinh Duong's poem), "Qua mien Tay Bac - Chien thang Dien Bien" (Nguyen Thanh - Do Nhuan), "Tinh ca Tay Bac" (music: Bui Duc Hanh; poetry: Cam Giang), "The Ballad of Ho Chi Minh" (composer: Ewan MacColl, Vietnamese lyrics: Phu An), "Tien buoc duoi quan ky" (Doan Nho), "Viet Nam que huong toi" (Do Nhuan).
