Coach Troussier tests new elements in Vietnam U23 attack

U23 Vietnam spent a week training with senior players in the Vietnam national team. This process helped coach Troussier find new factors for U23 Vietnam. One of the players with the best performance was Vo Nguyen Hoang.

The striker born in 2002 is a new name for U23 Vietnam this year. However, he is no stranger to the youth teams and coach Philippe Troussier.

In fact, a serious injury before the 31st SEA Games caused the player born in 2002 to miss the last two tournaments. Before the tournament in Cambodia took place, Mr. Troussier spent time caring for Nguyen Hoang but decided not to include his name in the preliminary list.

Nguyen Hoang had just recovered from an injury and his performance for PVF-CAND was not high. This player could have been included in the U23 Vietnam squad for the 19th ASIAD in Hangzhou if he met the professional requirements.

In this training session, coach Philippe Troussier also tested many new faces such as goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, defender Nguyen Duc Anh, midfielder Hoang Van Toan, and striker Vo Nguyen Hoang. However, the name that attracted the most attention was Nguyen An Khanh.

This 18-year-old Vietnamese player is playing for the U19 Sigma Olomouc Club of the Czech Republic and was personally recommended for call-up by coach Philippe Troussier.

Duc Anh needs more time and real matches to adapt better and prove his ability. The 4 players selected by coach Troussier for the Vietnam team are midfielder Hoang Van Toan, midfielder Khuat Van Khang, defender Phan Tuan Tai and striker Nguyen Van Tung.

U23 Vietnam will have a practice match with Hanoi Police Club on the afternoon of June 14.
