Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí17/11/2024

(Dan Tri) - Man Utd has confirmed the arrival of five coaches who will work in the assistant team of new head coach Ruben Amorim, all of whom come from Sporting Lisbon.

The former Sporting Lisbon boss has decided to set up his coaching team at Man Utd, drawing on the men who won two Primeira League titles with him during his time in Portugal.

According to the announcement from Man Utd, the coaches including Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira have officially joined the team at Old Trafford. This move comes in the context of the "Red Devils" trying to recover after an unsuccessful period under the leadership of Erik ten Hag.

The new players join former United midfielder Darren Fletcher and Andreas Georgson as first-team coaches, joining Amorim as coaching staff. The new coaching squad will be put to the first test at Portman Road when United face Ipswich Town on 24 November.

In his first speech as Man Utd head coach, Amorim told Man Utd fans that his team would play "without fear".

"We know it will take time. We will try to gain time with the matches, but we have to start from day one without fear, without thinking that the players are not used to playing like this. The players will start from day one with our ideas, no matter what. That is the goal," said Amorim.

He added: "The most important thing for me is identity. From day one, we will start with our identity. A lot of people now talk about 3-4-3 and 4-3-3 and all that. But when I think about Man Utd, it's not a system, it's more like the character of the players, how they see the club.

Currently, Amorim and his assistants at Man Utd are still in the process of applying for work permits to work in the UK. If everything goes well, Man Utd's new coaching staff will officially participate in the team's training sessions tomorrow (November 18).

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes will return to Manchester early to meet up with his new coach and compatriot Amorim, although Portugal have another UEFA Nations League game against Croatia on Monday (18 November). Fernandes left the squad early after picking up a yellow card in Portugal’s 5-1 win over Poland (16 November), which means he will be suspended for the trip to Zagreb.
