The model "Trusted address of Xa Nay village shelter", Son Nham commune, Son Ha district was established by the Women's Union of the commune at the end of 2023 to receive and support victims of violence, encourage their spirit, and guide women in knowledge and skills to prevent and combat domestic violence. Since the establishment of the model, members of the Executive Committee have coordinated with the commune's Associations and mass organizations to regularly visit each family to propagate about preventing and combating domestic violence. Thereby creating positive changes in awareness and action in preventing and combating violence, gradually reducing domestic violence.

Ms. Dinh Thi Nhat, Xa Nay village, said that since the model “Trusted Address of Xa Nay Village Shelter” was established, women have a place to go when they unfortunately have conflicts with their husbands. Not only that, thanks to the members of the Management Board of the model, women also know how to prevent and fight domestic violence, building happy and prosperous families.

Thanks to their closeness and closeness to the lives of their members, the members of the Executive Board promptly discovered many cases of marital conflicts and domestic violence. From there, they quickly found solutions to support, help, and reconcile, without leaving behind any unfortunate consequences.

Ms. Ha Thi Thuy Nga, President of the Women's Union of Son Nham Commune, said that Xa Nay village has nearly 200 households with about 500 people, mainly H're people. The H're people have the habit of drinking alcohol, so it is difficult to control their words and actions. That is also one of the causes of domestic violence here.

"Since the model was established, domestic violence cases have decreased significantly. In the first 6 months of 2024, we promptly reconciled 3 conflicts, so they did not lead to domestic violence. This is also a good sign," Ms. Ha Thi Thuy Nga added.

Similarly, in Minh Long district, models for preventing and combating domestic violence, gender equality and violence prevention clubs, communication teams for preventing and combating child violence, and trusted addresses in the community have been established.

Ms. Dinh Thi Hien in Ha Xuyen village, Long Hiep commune, said that since joining the Gender Equality and Violence Prevention Club, she and her husband have regularly been informed and disseminated knowledge about preventing domestic violence as well as how to take care of reproductive health, contraception, and not having a third child...

“Through participating in the model, we have a clear understanding of not engaging in domestic violence and raising children together. My family’s current life is quite stable, my husband and I live in harmony, love each other, and raise our children to be good and studious,” said Ms. Hien.

Along with establishing and expanding models and clubs, the Minh Long District Women's Union has announced a hotline to be ready to receive and support victims of domestic violence. At the same time, it has opened training courses to raise awareness and skills in preventing and combating domestic violence and mediation for staff working in family affairs.

Ms. Dinh Thi Nghieng, Vice President of the Minh Long District Women's Union, said that to protect the rights of members, the Union organizes propaganda, mobilizes women to join the club, provides reliable addresses, thereby integrating propaganda on gender equality, prevention of domestic violence, knowledge of building happy families... Thanks to that, women have a better understanding of the law as well as knowledge of building equal, progressive, and happy families.

With the goal of building happy families and reducing violence, the Provincial Women's Union has continuously promoted information, education, and diversified forms of communication about the role and position of women and girls; coordinated with functional agencies to provide hotline numbers to support victims of domestic violence. Therefore, up to now, the province has established 16 clubs of leaders of change in schools; 130 community communication teams in 5 mountainous districts; 622 trusted addresses in the community; launched a communication campaign to eliminate prejudices and gender stereotypes in families and communities...

Ms. Vo Thi Anh Tram, Vice President of the Women's Union of Quang Ngai province, said that the work of preventing and combating domestic violence in the province, especially in mountainous districts, has brought about many practical results. The models have contributed to raising awareness, changing behavior and promptly supporting victims of violence. Therefore, in the coming time, the Union will continue to promote propaganda and training, creating further changes in awareness and actions of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches and organizations in leading, directing and implementing measures to prevent and combat domestic violence. The Union focuses on propagating and educating families about laws and policies related to building prosperous, progressive and happy families so that each member has a deeper understanding of the position, role and function of the family in cultural, economic and social development.
