The Women's Union of Hoang Hoa district, But Son town, held a conversation and shared stories with its members.
In But Son town (Hoang Hoa district), the work of preventing and combating domestic violence is showing increasingly positive changes. Ms. Nguyen Thi Quy, from But Cuong residential group, shared: “My family has three generations living together. To ensure family harmony and happiness, each member of my family actively works and studies. As for me, to take good care of my family, I have regularly learned and exchanged experiences on raising healthy children, teaching them good behavior, and learning how to handle situations in the family with other women in the women's association. Thanks to this, family members always love each other, there is no domestic violence, and family problems are resolved promptly, preventing conflicts from arising.”
Not only Ms. Quy, but all women in But Son town actively participate in local clubs. To date, But Son town has established many models and clubs related to families, such as: the Happy Family Club; the Sustainable Family Development Club for Good Child Rearing; the Club for Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence; the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" Club; and the Safe Village Model for Women and Children... attracting a large number of women participants. These clubs regularly hold activities with diverse content, including: disseminating the Party and State's policies and laws; gender equality; building happy families; economic development; and child rearing. At the same time, the club leaders regularly stay close to the community, understanding the family circumstances, thoughts, and aspirations of the members. Through this, they share concerns and resolve conflicts and difficulties promptly for families.
According to Le Thi Kim Cuc, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of But Son town: "The clubs have diverse activities, and people participating not only receive education to raise awareness, responsibility, and skills in building families and preventing and combating domestic violence, but also get to showcase their talents through cultural, sports , dance, and drama activities... Through these activities, women's awareness of preventing and combating domestic violence and gender equality is increasingly raised. Women have learned to fight for and protect their own rights and have received the community's attention both materially and spiritually."
In Trieu Son district, the Party Committee, the government, and the Women's Union have recently intensified propaganda efforts through various forms, while also focusing on establishing clubs and models to enable women to participate in activities, raising awareness and responsibility in building happy families. To date, the entire district has approximately 140 family-related clubs, such as: 8 clubs for preventing and combating domestic violence, 20 clubs for building happy families, and 29 models of safe villages for women and children... These clubs and models have become a "common home" for women, encouraging, motivating, and promoting their development and self-affirmation.
According to Le Thi Do, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Trieu Son District: “To promote the role of women in preventing and combating domestic violence, the most important thing is to equip them with the ‘weapons’ to protect themselves. These include knowledge, education, and a sense of self-reliance to maintain happiness, raise children well, educate them well, develop economically, and improve themselves. Therefore, the Women's Union at all levels has focused on raising awareness among women. At the same time, they have organized many activities and created opportunities for women to participate in various activities to further their knowledge and skills for self-development.”
With the common goal of eliminating domestic violence, in recent times, women's associations at all levels in the province have closely followed the key tasks of the Provincial Steering Committee for Family Affairs. From there, they have developed documents and guidelines for organizing activities to build happy families through the implementation of models and programs. Many models and activities have contributed to raising awareness, educating , mobilizing, and supporting women in addressing social issues related to women; improving knowledge and skills in building happy families, preventing domestic violence, and providing first aid to victims of domestic violence... According to data from the Provincial Women's Union, to date, associations at all levels have established and effectively maintained 197 clubs for preventing domestic violence, 932 happy family clubs, 734 "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" clubs, 499 "5 Yes's, 3 Cleanliness" models, and 995 "safe villages/neighborhoods for women and children" models. Many clubs operate effectively, promoting the role of women and contributing to the elimination of domestic violence.
Through the activities of the provincial Women's Union at all levels, women are increasingly raising their awareness of the role and importance of themselves and their families. At the same time, many women have become more confident and asserted their role and position in the family and society. To continue promoting the role of women in preventing and combating domestic violence, aiming towards building "prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy" families, along with their own efforts, women also need active support and assistance from their families and society.
