What has the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association contributed after 25 years of establishment?

Established on July 16, 1999, after 25 years of formation and development, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association has made many marks in the development of the textile and garment industry - an important industry of the country.

According to Mr. Vu Duc Giang - Chairman of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, during the development process, the association has restructured its operating model. Up to now, the association's official and affiliated members have reached nearly 1,000 enterprises. In addition, there are many members who are enterprises in other fields.

The Association has contributed to the mechanisms and policies of the Party and Government, playing a good role as a bridge between enterprises and state management agencies, protecting the rights of members, removing obstacles and difficulties and creating favorable conditions for enterprises.

Contribute to promoting the growth of Vietnam's textile and garment industry. From the first year of export of only about 1.75 billion USD, it has now reached 40 billion USD in 2023 and is forecasted to be more than 40 billion USD in 2024.

A series of Vietnamese textile and garment brands have gained prestige in the domestic market and some foreign markets. The average domestic market revenue reaches over 3 billion USD, and in some years it reaches over 4 billion USD.

The industry has also developed a strategy to attract investment in the supply shortage to meet the requirements of free trade agreements on the origin of domestic raw materials. This issue creates conditions for the import turnover ratio to decrease year by year.

The Association also plays a prominent role in solutions for building chain linkages when coordinating the implementation of a series of trade promotion and investment promotion programs, organizing chain linkage delegations to strengthen cohesion, cooperation, and mutual learning about management models and technology models.

According to the leader of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, the achievements and experiences over the past 25 years are the basis for the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association to continue to develop in the coming stages.

Accordingly, the association continues to develop a strategy to call for investment in the shortage of supply sources to reduce the import of raw materials. Provide solutions for purchasing strategies and barriers of importing countries to limit risks for businesses.

Continue to diversify markets, diversify products, diversify partners and customers so as not to be too dependent on certain markets and customers. Build a vision and aspiration to quickly transform the Vietnamese fashion industry with its own brand.

That is, the textile industry has proactive raw material sources, proactive management resources with capacity, keeping up with the trend of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

Build global relationships, take proactive steps, avoid risks, unsustainable trade, meet the requirements of free trade agreements on the use of recycled products, environmentally friendly products. Continue to promote the comprehensive greening program, save raw materials, use renewable energy. Meet the Government's commitment to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050.
