The Nubia Flip 5G will become the world's lowest priced foldable smartphone. Although it is not a flagship (the top, high-end devices of a product line or brand), this product still receives attention because its price is much cheaper than similar foldable lines from Samsung or some other brands on the market.
Nubia Flip 5G will be the cheapest foldable smartphone on the market
Leaked information about the launch schedule of this model started in early April, but it is almost certain that Nubia plans to bring the Flip 5G to the global market later this month, not just limiting sales in its home country.
Specifically, buyers can start pre-ordering the device on the company's website and the expected delivery time is from April 23. The pre-order portal is not yet available for all markets, but the company will gradually add to the list of countries where the device can be ordered.
The device first appeared in February 2024 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), classified as a mid-range device. The product has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor and a flexible OLED screen that can be folded into a clamshell, measuring 6.9 inches (in the open form), with a screen refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The circular external screen also uses an OLED panel, measuring 1.43 inches. The battery is 4,310 mAh. The main camera cluster has 2 sensors with a resolution of 50 MP and 2 MP, the secondary camera is 16 MP wide angle. Biometric lock with fingerprint sensor located on the back.
Nubia is a smartphone subsidiary of the Chinese tech giant ZTE. Despite the US trade embargo, Nubia is still allowed to sell its products in the US and globally. The cheapest version will cost $500, with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Users will need to spend an additional $200 to upgrade the device to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of memory.
