According to Directive No. 19 of the Prime Minister, by March 30, multi-storey residential buildings, multi-apartment buildings, and individual houses combined with production and business in Ho Chi Minh City will have to stop operating if they do not correct violations according to the four fire prevention and fighting solutions. In the last days of March, functional forces in all districts in Ho Chi Minh City were racing against time, instructing thousands of accommodation facility owners to correct existing violations of fire prevention and fighting.

According to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, most of the owners of the establishments have complied with the instructions because they are afraid of being suspended from business after March 30. Notably, there are 7 districts including District 11, Tan Phu; Nha Be, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Can Gio, Hoc Mon districts with no more lodging establishments violating fire prevention and fighting regulations. The owners of the establishments have gradually realized that their violations will cause great damage to people and their own property, so they have complied well with the instructions of the authorities to overcome the situation.

Lodging businesses may cease operations due to violations such as: not creating a second emergency exit, not implementing solutions to prevent fire from spreading between the parking area, areas with high risk of fire and explosion, the living area and escape routes; lack of fire prevention equipment and systems; unsafe electrical systems, overloaded electricity usage during peak hours; residents living inside the boarding house have not been fully informed and equipped with fire prevention knowledge, etc.
With only 2 days left until the “deadline”, Ho Chi Minh City Police continue to inspect, check, guide and urge establishments that still have violations of fire prevention and fighting to speed up the correction of violations to create a safe environment for boarding houses in terms of fire prevention and fighting, avoiding damage to people and property.
