On February 15 (January 6), at the complex of national historical and cultural relics and scenic spots of Huong Tich Pagoda (Thien Loc commune), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh province coordinated with the People's Committee of Can Loc district to organize the opening ceremony of Huong Tich Pagoda - opening the Ha Tinh tourism year 2024.
Huong Tich Pagoda was built around the 13th century in Huong Tich Cave (in the Hong Linh mountain range), at an altitude of nearly 1,000m above sea level. The story of the pagoda is associated with the folk legend of Princess Dieu Thien who attained enlightenment, became a Buddha, and saved all living beings.
Every spring, tourists from all over the country flock to Huong Tich Pagoda to pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, family peace, happiness, prosperity and to admire the sacred beauty of the pagoda.
At this year's festival, in addition to the rituals, incense offering, worshiping Buddha and sightseeing, visitors can also participate in cultural and artistic activities, sports, folk games, and visit the exhibition of typical products of Ha Tinh province.
The organization of the Huong Tich Pagoda Festival - the opening event for the Ha Tinh Tourism Year 2024 is an opportunity to promote the image of the people and the unique cultural heritage values of the province; at the same time, it contributes to spreading the beauty and cultural values of the pagoda known as "Hoan Chau's first scenic spot".
Head of the Huong Tich Pagoda Tourism Area Management Board, Tran Thi Thu Ha, said that the Huong Tich Pagoda Festival in 2024 will last until the end of March. This year, the weather is favorable, so many tourists from all over the country come to Huong Tich Pagoda Tourism Area to make pilgrimages, pay respects, and visit the landscape. From the first day of Tet until now, the unit has welcomed about 25,000 visitors, of which about 6,000 visitors on the opening day alone.
