Within the framework of the AMRI 16 conference taking place in Da Nang City, on the afternoon of September 22, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea led by Mr. Nam Chan Woo - Director of the Press Policy Department.

At the reception, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung thanked the Korean delegation for attending the AMRI 16 conference. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung hoped that Korea would share its experiences in the field of ICT and fighting fake news.

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung received a gift from the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea.

In response, Mr. Nam Chan Woo sent his congratulations to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam for successfully organizing the AMRI 16 conference.

Mr. Nam Chan Woo said that the problem of fighting fake news is not only facing Korea but also other countries. The Korean government always attaches importance to developing the ICT sector and establishing policy mechanisms and platforms to filter fake news.

Currently, Korea has applications to filter fake information and fake photos. However, Korea and Vietnam are facing common difficulties in handling fake news on cross-border social networking platforms.

“We know that Vietnam is also stepping up its fight against fake news and disinformation. I think that to deal with this problem, the two countries need to develop ICT and AI technology platforms and coordinate with international cooperation agencies…”, Mr. Nam Chan Woo shared.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung hopes that in the coming time, Vietnam and Korea will cooperate more in the field of press and media.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam is currently deploying technology to filter fake news in text format, has applied AI technology to identify fake news, and is in the process of developing an image filtering system.

According to the Minister, sharing and exchanging is very important, and he proposed that in the near future there will be a cooperation agreement between the two Ministries, including the field of press and media, and the Department of International Cooperation will be the focal point for coordination.

“The exchange and coordination between the officials in charge between the two countries is very important, including in the field of press and media. In October 2023, Korea will organize a reporter forum and will invite Vietnamese reporters to attend. In the coming time, the two countries will cooperate closely and develop in the field of information and media,” Mr. Nam Chan Woo emphasized.

Mr. Nam Chan Wooong hopes that in the coming time, Vietnam and Korea will closely cooperate and develop in the field of information and communication.

On the same day, at the meeting with Ms. Puangpet Chunlaiad, Minister of the Prime Minister's Office of Thailand, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung and Ms. Puangpet Chunlaiad shared about the fields of media, journalism,digital transformation , and fighting fake news; wishing to promote communication between the two countries.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam focuses on digital technology to classify news on cyberspace, using digital technology to know which news is positive or negative; and is in the process of developing regulations on handling fake information on cyberspace; at the same time, he hopes that Vietnam and Thailand as well as ASEAN will have a common voice to fight fake news more effectively.

“It would be much better if ASEAN countries had a common voice. If we can handle fake news on cross-border platforms, we will handle more than 90% of fake news,” the Minister shared.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung received Ms. Puangpet Chunlaiad, Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand.

At the reception, the two Ministers wished to promote communication between Vietnam and Thailand in the coming time.

On the same day, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh received Malaysian Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Fahmi Fadzil.

The two Ministers shared and discussed issues such as digital transformation, management of information content on social networks, experience in preventing and handling fake news, and strengthening cooperation in the field of information and communications...

In addition, the proposal will create a joint group between the two countries to exchange and share experiences on digital transformation, including cross-border communications...
