Recently, Ho Chi Minh City officially announced the removal of commune and ward administrative boundaries in the admission of grade 1 and grade 6. Accordingly, there are 2 admission subjects, in which subject 1 for grade 1 will give priority to students whose "current residence" is in the area and within the prescribed age; for grade 6, students whose "current residence" is in the area, have completed primary school and are within the prescribed age. Subject 2 is students who wish to study in an area that is not their actual residence.

Ho Chi Minh City's flexible enrollment plan based on three factors (local school distribution; number of children of enrollment age; information on students' "current residence" from industry databases) has received support from many parents.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, for many years now, the admission process for the first level has been conducted in a detailed route down to each house number and residential group, not based on the administrative boundaries of the ward level. Not all students residing in a ward will attend the school in that ward.

For example, the enrollment plan for the first grade in Cau Giay district clearly states: Grade 6 of Dich Vong Secondary School will enroll students from Dich Vong ward from groups 2 to 10; Quan Hoa ward from groups 1 to 27.

Or Truong Cong Giai Secondary School will recruit students in Dich Vong ward in groups 11, 12, 14, 15, 15A, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 25, 27, 28 and students in Quan Hoa ward in groups 2, 7, 15, 18, 24, 28, 29, 30...

Sharing about the enrollment plan for the first level, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Cau Giay district said that regarding the enrollment route, the Department of Education and Training will base on the proposals of the wards, in which priority will be given to the route according to the residential groups near theeducational facilities. For example, Dich Vong ward has groups 2 to 10 near Dich Vong Secondary School, so the route will be there, while other groups near Truong Cong Giai Secondary School will "cut" students to Truong Cong Giai to study.

"With the special feature that Quan Hoa ward does not have a middle school, groups near Dich Vong Middle School will go to Dich Vong to study, groups near Truong Cong Giai Middle School will study there," he said.

Or in Nam Tu Liem district, Phuong Canh Secondary School recruits students from residential groups 1, 2, 8 Tu Hoang; residential groups 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Hoe Thi, Athena apartment building and Hateco apartment building. Meanwhile, Xuan Phuong Secondary School recruits students from this ward and residential groups 4, 5, 12, 14, 16, 17 Cau Dien ward, and residential groups 1, 2, 3 Phuong Canh ward.

According to the announcement of the enrollment plan for kindergartens, grades 1 and 6 for the 2025-2026 school year, the Departments of Education and Training in Hanoi require schools to organize enrollment in accordance with regulations, ensuring accuracy, safety, fairness and seriousness. Enrollment instructions must be complete, clear, public and convenient for students and parents, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education at all levels.

The capital strives to mobilize at least 55% of nursery-age children and 99% of preschool-age children to attend school; at least 80% of children with mild disabilities of preschool age to be integrated into education; 100% of healthy 6-year-old children to enter grade 1; 100% of students who have completed primary school to enter grade 6.

The Department of Education and Training publicly announces the enrollment plan, ensuring 5 things: clear route, clear target, clear time, clear method and clear responsibility in enrollment work.
