On the morning of April 7, Mr. Dang Quang Hai - Chairman of the People's Committee of Trieu Lang Commune (Trieu Phong, Quang Tri) - confirmed that a student had just drowned while swimming in the sea and was fortunately saved.

At noon on April 6, a group of five 8th grade students from Trieu Thanh Secondary School (Trieu Phong district) went to play and swim at the beach in Trieu Lang commune.

At around 2:30 p.m., locals discovered three male students, all 14 years old, swept away by a large wave, floundering in the middle of the ocean. The remaining children on the shore shouted for help.

At that time, two brothers Nguyen Quang Linh (37 years old) and Nguyen Quang Dinh (34 years old, living in village 5, Trieu Lang) were fishing nearby. Hearing the screams, they immediately rushed into the sea to save the person.

After a few minutes, three male students were brought to shore, two of whom were severely drowned. "Many other people on shore provided first aid. After about 30 minutes, the students regained consciousness and were taken to the emergency room," Mr. Dang Quang Hai informed.

On the afternoon of April 6, at Trieu Hai Regional General Hospital, local authorities handed over the two children to their families, in stable health condition.

Mr. Hai said that on April 9, the People's Committee of the commune will hold a ceremony to honor the two brothers who saved people.

"The people who assisted on shore are also commendable, but because there were many people, each with their own job, we couldn't all be commended. Linh and Dinh's actions were very brave and commendable," said Mr. Hai.
