Mr. Agus received the approval of lawmakers in the plenary session, which attracted more than half of the 575 members of the House of Representatives.

After the National Assembly's approval, Mr. Agus's inauguration ceremony will take place on November 22 under the chairmanship of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Originally from Cimahi, West Java province, Mr. Agus graduated from the Military Academy in 1991 and held an important role in the Indonesian armed forces, especially as commander of the presidential guard.

Previously, at the end of October, General Agus Subiyanto, 56 years old and a close confidant of President Jokowi, was nominated by this leader to hold the position of TNI Commander just 6 days after being appointed TNI Chief of Staff.

According to the Indonesian Military Law 2004, the maximum age of the TNI Commander is 58 years old.
