The results of an unannounced inspection by the Hanoi City Interdisciplinary Food Safety Team No. 1 on the Nguyen Ninh brand, which is considered the No. 1 rice cake product in Hanoi, showed that the production area of this facility was used from a family's kitchen, had no separate areas, was arranged in a messy manner and was in a state of serious degradation.

Notably, the toilet is located right next to the food processing area. The production area also has insects and animal feces. In addition, the label of the rice cake product does not comply with the regulations on product labeling and is inconsistent with the product declaration.
In the immediate future, two products, green rice cake and xu xe cake, will be sampled for quality standard testing.
According to a reporter from Cong Thuong Newspaper at 11 Hang Than Street late this afternoon, this establishment still had customers coming in and out to buy products from this store.
Authorities will continue to assess the actual food safety level of the Nguyen Ninh green rice cake brand, but from now on, it can be seen that this leading green rice cake brand in Hanoi, which has spanned over a period of three centuries, has been severely affected, and may even have to endure a long-term boycott by consumers.

Originally a shop selling green rice cakes located at the top of Hang Than slope, the Nguyen Ninh brand has spread throughout the long-standing street like Hang Than street with many shops "imitating" the name Nguyen Ninh to create a street that almost only sells one product: green rice cakes to serve the diverse consumption needs of Hanoians and other provinces and cities across the country.
However, the authenticity and quality of green rice cakes at shops on Hang Than Street have long been left unanswered, and the intervention of Hanoi authorities to accurately determine the quality of this product is timely and necessary, albeit somewhat late.
According to some consumers, recently, the quality of Nguyen Ninh green rice cakes has clearly deteriorated, completely unworthy of a brand loved by consumers. The ingredients used to make the cakes are no longer of the same quality as before, the cakes are easily broken and too sticky, and easily get moldy right after purchase if exposed to humid weather.
It can be seen that after the suspension of operations, the Nguyen Ninh green rice cake brand will still need a lot of time to regain its image and reputation if it wants to continue to exist as a gift brand, OCOP and leading consumer brand in Hanoi.
