On November 24, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with other departments and branches to organize the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the Innovation and Startup Award 2023 (I-Star 2023). This is an annual award organized by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The event took place within the framework of Techfest - Whise Week 2023.
The I-Star 2023 Award was launched in March 2023. In more than 5 months, the Organizing Committee received 225 entries. The solutions focus on digital transformation in the fields of education, services, state management, healthcare, agriculture, etc. Among them, there are many creative solutions in state management, education and services, keeping up with the development trends and needs of society.

After the selection rounds, 39 entries made it to the next round and were divided into 4 groups (innovative startups; innovative solutions; media works; organizations and individuals supporting startup activities).

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the I-Star Award has entered its 6th year and still maintains the interest of organizations and the community. Hopefully, I-Star 2024 will attract more colorful and attractive creative ideas and solutions, to create new breakthroughs for the city's development, contribute to promoting the country's resources, and elevate the Vietnamese innovation and startup ecosystem to integrate internationally.
The Organizing Committee has selected 12 best profiles from 4 groups to honor and award the I-Star 2023 award, specifically:
In group 1, the innovative solutions, the award was given to: AquaFlex Water-soluble Bioplastic Packaging Solution; Product digitalization, management and traceability solution.
In group 2, startups and innovation enterprises, the award was given to the application of information technology in food safety management and origin of imported goods at Binh Thoi market.

In group 3, the press and media works on innovation and startups, the award was given to the series of discussion works: Ho Chi Minh City gradually builds a smart city; Young people diligently make fabric from bamboo fiber, banana fiber and preserve precious genes; Highly practical solutions in teaching and learning chemistry.
In group 4, individuals and organizations that start up and innovate and have made positive contributions to the community, the award belongs to ZONE STARTUPS Vietnam Company, International University (Ho Chi Minh City National University) and Technology Business Incubation Center, University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University).
