With the aim of preserving and promoting traditional sports and restoring dragon boat racing on West Lake, since 2018, the Hanoi People's Committee has directed the Department of Culture and Sports, People's Committees of districts, towns, agencies and organizations in the city to develop a plan to organize training and coordinate with competition organizers. After 4 times of organization, the dragon boat racing tournament has become a familiar playground and is eagerly awaited by boat racing enthusiasts every year. Thereby, it has attracted many international and domestic organizations to choose, forming the habit of practicing (playing) dragon boat rowing to improve health on West Lake. The 2023 Hanoi Open Dragon Boat Racing Tournament is a practical sport activity to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2023). The tournament lasts from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 7. At the end of the match, the West Lake Golden Buffalo team was one of the first-place teams. 
At this tournament, author Nguyen The Binh captured beautiful moments through the photo series "Hanoi West Lake Dragon Boat Race 2023". The photo series was submitted by the author to the Happy Vietnam Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications. 
For the first time, Hanoi Dragon Boat Racing Tournament The 2023 expansion will take place on October 7 at West Lake, bringing together 39 registered boat teams to compete in many events, aiming to build a unique sports tourism product, attracting domestic and foreign tourists to participate. 
Dragon boat racing is a team sport, promoting team spirit, members must be united and determined. 
On the boat, there is one person who plays the role of commander (drummer), one person who steers, the remaining rowers unify their movements, coordinate rhythmically in each row, have a strategy to break through speed from the start to the finish. Each member plays an important role on the racing boat to make the team win.
