The Hanoi People's Committee has just agreed with the proposal to study the expansion of roads along West Lake (Tay Ho district), and at the same time allowed the study of a plan to build a bridge connecting Thuy Su Lake with Dam Tri.
In the concluding announcement at the meeting to review the plan to renovate, upgrade and expand the roads around West Lake, the Hanoi People's Committee basically agreed with the proposal of Tay Ho district and related departments.
Accordingly, the City People's Committee agreed with the policy of including the research content on renovating, upgrading and expanding the roads around West Lake in the standardization process of project documents for local adjustment of the Urban Zoning Plan for the West Lake area and vicinity.
Tay Ho District is assigned to coordinate with departments and branches to update the content, ideas, and research plans for the Project on Preserving and Promoting the Value of West Lake and its vicinity, and the project to locally adjust the Urban Zoning Plan for the West Lake area and its vicinity.
The contents, ideas and research plans of this project include the water wharf, the bridge connecting Thuy Su Lake with Dam Tri, the traffic system, flower gardens, walking paths, landscapes, etc.
Time and progress for organizing the preparation and submission for approval of the above planning shall not exceed 2 months.
The City People's Committee noted that relevant units should study the bridge connecting Thuy Su Lake - Dam Tri Lake to ensure the highest aesthetics, smallest scale, and most beautiful but still meet the function and minimize the impact on the lake.
Regarding the detailed content, the City People's Committee agrees with the opinion of the Department of Planning and Architecture, Tay Ho District on the plan to widen the cross-section of Quang An and Tu Hoa streets according to the plan of 21m. The City People's Committee noted that the expanded road must have high aesthetics, limiting encroachment on the lake surface.
West Lake is known as the largest natural lake in Hanoi, with an area of nearly 530 hectares and a circumference of about 15km. The lake is part of the old Red River after its course was changed.
According to the 2017 survey data of Tay Ho district, the aquatic ecosystem in West Lake is very diverse, including 72 species of floating plants, 29 species of benthic animals, 12 species of crustaceans and 46 species of fish.
