The festival was organized by Muc Tim publication - Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, with the support of Vingroup Corporation.
What is a failing score? If I fail my specialized application, will I be considered for my regular application?
At the festival, Ms. Nguyen Xuan Mai, Deputy Head of the Examination and Quality Control Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, gave general notes on 10th grade admission.
According to Ms. Mai, for the three subjects of literature, math, and foreign language, students should note not to let any test score be 0. If a student has 1 out of 3 tests with a score of 0, it will be considered a failure and will not have the opportunity to be admitted to a public high school.
For specialized classes, students should note that no specialized exam has a score equal to 2 or a score less than 2.
When registering for a specialized class, if a student is not admitted, will his/her regular wishes be considered? Ms. Mai said that if he/she is not admitted to a specialized school, the student will still be considered for 3 regular wishes. Therefore, students who want to try their hand at a specialized class or specialized school can do so boldly, as it will not affect the consideration of 3 regular wishes.

What electives will high schools offer?
Ms. Nguyen Xuan Mai advises parents to accompany their children in choosing schools and choosing their entrance exams for grade 10. Because now students will study the new general education program and new textbooks.
According to the new program, at the high school level, 6 compulsory subjects will be taught and 4 out of 9 subjects will be chosen . However, not all high schools will teach all 9 subjects. Therefore, when students have a desire to study at a school, students and parents should visit that school's website to see if the optional subjects are suitable for the student's wishes, abilities and career orientation.

Ms. Le Tuong Quyen - Vice Principal of Trung Vuong High School - added: when placing their wishes on a school, parents and students need to pay attention to how the school they wish to apply to will teach and learn.
According to Ms. Quyen, usually at the beginning of the year when accepting new 10th grade students, the school will carefully advise parents and students about the curriculum.
In addition to the 6 compulsory subjects, there are 2 more subjects: career guidance and local education. These are 8 compulsory contents when entering high school, any student must study.
In addition, there will be 9 subjects that students will choose 4 subjects to study. Depending on the characteristics of personnel and facilities, each school will have some advice and forms for students to choose. Parents can go to the school's website to learn, from there set appropriate wishes.

If the combination is not suitable, can it be changed?
A student asked: "If I am studying a combination but find it unsuitable during the study period, can I change to another combination?"
Ms. Le Tuong Quyen advises: Students are not allowed to change the entire group. They have 4 subjects to choose from, students can change 1 of the 4 subjects, or 2 of the 4 elective subjects, or 3 or 4 subjects.
Students must complete the 10th grade year. When the final assessment results of that subject are available, they can request a change based on the school's instructions.
For example, at Trung Vuong school, students who want to change their wishes will submit an application according to the school's instructions, then be given a test. If they have enough knowledge, they will be able to study the new subject.

Participating in the Confident Step into Grade 10 festival, many parents and students shared that the program was really useful.
Tran Vo Dieu An - a 9/6 student at Vo Truong Toan Secondary School - said she has a lot of information about 10th grade admissions and is much more confident.
"Before, I was under a lot of pressure, but after coming here and listening to the teachers' advice and meeting and asking seniors directly, I learned a lot of information and now I'm much more confident," Dieu An happily said.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Confidently Entering Grade 10 Festival, Mr. Nguyen Khac Cuong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper - said that Tuoi Tre Newspaper wishes to provide accurate information according to the needs of parents and students.
"The festival is called Confidently Entering Grade 10. We want students to be confident before the exam. To be confident, students must research and clarify their questions," said Mr. Cuong.
