Speaking at the press conference, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Mai Thi Kim Thoa said that the 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2024 is one of the key sports activities of Hanoi city to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital; 25 years since Hanoi was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a City for Peace.
The Organizing Committee of the 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2024 held a press conference to inform about the final round of the race.
The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run 2024 was assigned by Hanoi City to two agencies: Hanoi Moi Newspaper and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports as the permanent co-organizers. The launching ceremony was held on March 24, 2024 at Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden and around Hoan Kiem Lake, in conjunction with the Olympic Running Day for the Health of All People. The combination of the two events has contributed to creating a vibrant atmosphere of physical training and sports in wards, communes and towns across the city.
With special attention and direction from the city to the grassroots, up to now, most districts, towns and cities have organized grassroots running tests. The number of participants in the test runs exceeded the targets set by the districts, towns and cities. The quality of the competition has also been significantly improved.
The final round will open at 7:30 a.m. on September 29 at Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden and around Hoan Kiem Lake with the participation of 1,000 athletes, including more than 200 foreign athletes from embassies and international organizations based in Hanoi.
Athletes will compete in 12 amateur and advanced events, competing for 12 sets of medals. The amateur events will take place at distances of 1,750m, 3,500m, 5,250m for men and women. The advanced events will take place at distances of 5,250m for women and 8,750m for men.
The Organizing Committee will award individual prizes to male and female athletes ranked from 1 to 5; and team prizes from 1 to 3 in each category. The total prize value is more than 70 million VND.
