Promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", the Party committees, authorities at all levels, and organizations and unions of the district have paid attention to taking care of families of people with revolutionary contributions. In 2023, implementing the policy of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, the District People's Committee issued Plan No. 134 on supporting housing construction for people with revolutionary contributions who have housing difficulties.
Accordingly, in 2023, support will be given to build 15 new houses for people with meritorious services in difficult circumstances; each newly built house will be supported with 100 million VND, with a total support cost of 1.5 billion VND (the district budget will be allocated from the Gratitude and Social Security Fund of 1.5 billion VND, the commune budget will be allocated from the Gratitude and Social Security Fund of 300 million VND). Strive to basically complete the support before the Lunar New Year 2024 so that people with meritorious services can celebrate Tet and enjoy Spring in a new house.
As one of 15 meritorious people supported to build houses with the support of the district in 2023, war invalid Dinh Van Sau, 84 years old, Nam Ninh 1 hamlet, Gia Lac commune, excitedly said: Before, I lived in a level 4 house that was built a long time ago. In 2023, the district supported a mother of a martyr to build a house with an amount of 20 million VND (in Gia Thang commune); organized transportation for 242 people with meritorious services and their relatives to go to centralized nursing homes; assessed and proposed to resolve regimes and policies for 415 policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services.
Organized delegations to visit and present gifts on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day to over 18,000 people with a total amount of over 4.7 billion VND, of which gifts from the district budget were over 1.2 billion VND. Organized visits and presented gifts to 691 resistance fighters infected with Agent Orange and their children affected by Agent Orange with a total amount of over 318 million VND. There are 81 poor households supported to build houses according to Resolution No. 43/NQ-HDND dated March 10, 2023 of the Provincial People's Council (of which 58 households are newly built and 23 households are repaired), with a total cost of 6,950,000,000 VND; supporting production for 50 poor households, near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty in the project of Raising breeding cows; periodically paying monthly electricity bill support for poor households according to regulations for 932 households, with a total cost of 629,500,000 VND.
Attention to social security work in the district has contributed to strengthening people's trust in the policies of the Party and State, creating motivation for each person to make efforts with the locality to successfully implement socio-economic development goals, striving to bring Gia Vien district to meet advanced new rural standards in 2024.
