Caring for people in difficult circumstances is an annual activity of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels in Hanoi. From the city's budget and socialized resources, social security care and care for people in difficult circumstances have been implemented by all levels, sectors and districts, achieving many positive results, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people.
In order to expand the social security network for people in difficult circumstances, recently, many poor households in Hanoi have been awarded solidarity houses. This has created a great source of encouragement for families to strive to escape poverty. Recently, in Nghiem Xuyen commune (Thuong Tin district), a fund was handed over to build a solidarity house for the family of Mrs. Pham Thi Bong, Nghiem Xa village, who has a particularly difficult housing situation. Mrs. Bong is sick and often falls ill, has to raise her children alone, and does not have enough money to build a house herself.
Faced with the difficult circumstances of Mrs. Bong's family, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghiem Xuyen Commune proposed to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin District to agree to support the construction of a solidarity house for Mrs. Bong's family. On November 25, 2024, Mrs. Bong's family started building the house and received the attention and support of the Party Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the commune and the local government, children, relatives, and neighbors. Currently, her house has been basically completed, ensuring quality and safety with an area of 60m2, with a total estimated cost of more than 450 million VND. Of which, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district supported 50 million VND and neighbors helped with labor.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Dung - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuong Tin district said that with the view of providing the best support for households with housing difficulties, in recent years, Thuong Tin district has mobilized from many socialized sources, the Fund for the Poor to build and repair houses. The district also does not divide into phases to support but implements according to the "rolling" principle. Households in need of housing, after being surveyed by all levels, will be supported by the district with construction costs because the district determines that this is a source of encouragement for families and clans to rise out of poverty, join hands to build a rich and civilized homeland.
Recently, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach That district coordinated with Lai Thuong commune and Dai Dong commune to present solidarity houses to the households of Ms. Nguyen Thi Gioi and Ms. Ha Thi Phu, Phu Thu village (Lai Thuong commune); Mr. Vuong Van Hai, village 4 (Dai Dong commune) and presented 30 million VND to the household of Mr. Le Van Ri, Lai Khanh village (Lai Thuong commune) to repair their houses. All 4 households are near-poor, elderly, single, and in difficult circumstances. The families live in cramped, dilapidated level 4 houses that are unsafe during the rainy and stormy season, but their economic situation is too difficult to afford to repair their houses. Through the review process, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thach That district has allocated the district's "For the Poor" Fund to support the families. During the construction process, the families have always received timely attention and support from the Party Committee, government, the Fatherland Front and local mass organizations.
Assessing the effectiveness of implementing social security policies in the city, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi said that in recent years, building a social security system and improving social welfare has been one of the key tasks of Hanoi, aiming to improve the quality of life, ensure equality in development opportunities for the people of the capital, contribute to political and social stability and create momentum for economic development. Responding to the Movement "For the poor - no one is left behind" launched by the Prime Minister and implementing Program No. 08 of the Hanoi Party Committee on "Developing the social security system, improving social welfare and quality of life of the people of the capital in the period of 2021-2025", the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City and its member organizations have implemented many practical activities to care for and support poor households and families in difficult circumstances, ensuring social security work.
The method of mobilization and assistance has many innovations. The Front has mobilized resources to support the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels, while guiding and connecting businesses, organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to directly help the poor and localities.
“To better care for people in difficult circumstances, in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi will focus on innovating propaganda methods to mobilize people, with high determination and great efforts, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals set out in the Resolution of the City Party Congress. At the same time, promoting the spirit of “Hanoi with the whole country, for the whole country”, continuing to accompany provinces and cities in poverty reduction and social security work” - Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong emphasized.
