Gold price today (August 30): In the afternoon session, domestic gold prices increased slightly. |
World gold prices rose to a three-week high in the trading session on August 29, as the US dollar and US government bond yields fell after weak labor market data pushed back the possibility of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) continuing to raise interest rates.
On the afternoon of August 30, Vietnam time, the world gold price is standing at 1,935 USD/ounce. An analysis article on Kitco said that the notable point is the latest speech by Fed Chairman Powell at the economic symposium in Jackson Hole Wyoming, which inferred that the tightening labor market is posing challenges in the fight against inflation. The challenges of high inflation and a tighter labor market combined suggest that inflationary pressures will remain elevated for longer than previously assumed.
Fed Chairman Powell's speech suggested that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates further. However, today's data showing a decline in job openings has led market participants to assume that the Fed will not continue to raise interest rates. This assumption is very different from the assumptions made after Powell's speech last Friday.
