Durian prices today, April 1, 2025, in two key regions, the Mekong Delta (MD) and the Central Highlands, show low stability compared to previous main crop periods. In the MD, Ri6 durian type A ranges from 67,000 - 73,000 VND/kg, while type B only reaches 47,000 - 53,000 VND/kg, and type CD is the lowest at 38,000 - 40,000 VND/kg. Ri6 VIP has a higher price, with type A reaching 80,000 VND/kg and type B at 60,000 VND/kg, reflecting the superior quality of this variety. Thai durian grade A in the Mekong Delta is priced at 120,000 - 125,000 VND/kg, grade B is 100,000 - 105,000 VND/kg, while Thai A VIP is 135,000 VND/kg, showing high demand for quality imported varieties. However, lower varieties such as Thai xo CD (53,000 - 58,000 VND/kg), Thai Dat (50,000 - 60,000 VND/kg) and Thai Kem (20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg) are at very low prices, suitable for the popular or processed segment.
High-end varieties such as Chuong Bo, Sau Huu, Musang King and Black Thorn in the Mekong Delta have quite competitive prices. Chuong Bo type A is 70,000 - 72,000 VND/kg, Sau Huu type A is 80,000 - 90,000 VND/kg, while Musang King and Black Thorn type A are 130,000 - 135,000 VND/kg and 125,000 - 135,000 VND/kg, respectively, showing the appeal of these varieties in the high-end segment. In the Central Highlands, the prices of Ri6 and Thai durian are relatively similar to the Mekong Delta, with Ri6 type A ranging from 68,000 - 72,000 VND/kg and Thai type A reaching 120,000 VND/kg, but supply seems to be more limited as there are no VIP lines or specialty varieties like in the Mekong Delta.
In general, today's durian prices in both regions are at a low average level, with no clear fluctuations, possibly due to the mid-season or off-season period in some localities. The clear price differentiation between types A, B, CD and premium varieties such as Musang King and Black Thorn shows that the market still prioritizes quality, while low-priced varieties such as Kem Thai and Hang Dat meet the needs of general consumers. However, this price is significantly lower than the peak in previous years, possibly reflecting abundant supply or pressure from the export market, especially China, where consumption is large but quality standards are being tightened. In the short term, if there are no stimulus factors or support policies, durian prices may continue to remain at the current level.
Durian price today 4/1/2025 in the world
The durian market in the Mekong Delta (MD) on April 1, 2025 showed stability at relatively low prices, affected by the sharp decline in exports to China. The purchase price of Ri6 durian type A currently ranges from 73,000 - 75,000 VND/kg, type B from 53,000 - 55,000 VND/kg, while CD and floating goods are respectively at 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg and 30,000 - 40,000 VND/kg, showing a clear differentiation by quality. Ri6 VIP durian maintains a higher price, with type A reaching 80,000 VND/kg and type B at 60,000 VND/kg. For Thai breeds, type A ranges from 120,000 - 125,000 VND/kg, type B from 100,000 - 105,000 VND/kg, and Thai VIP type A is up to 140,000 VND/kg, affirming the position of high-end lines. Musang King maintains a peak price of 135,000 - 140,000 VND/kg, while Chuong Bo and Sau Huu type A fluctuate between 70,000 - 90,000 VND/kg, meeting the mid-range and high-end segments.
However, pressure from the export market is having a strong impact on the durian industry. Exports to China – the main market – have fallen sharply, with the first two months of 2025 reaching only nearly 306 million USD, down 39% compared to the same period last year. In January 2025 alone, durian exports there plunged 83.2% compared to the same period in 2024, down to more than 18 million USD, due to reduced demand and increased international competition. This has caused domestic prices, although still stable, to potentially decline in the future if the export situation does not improve. Currently, the purchase price is still enough for farmers to maintain production, but the heavy dependence on China and the decline in turnover may force growers to adjust their strategies, from market diversification to cost optimization to deal with long-term risks.
