DNVN - On the morning of November 14, 2024, the price of live pigs recorded an uneven increase and decrease trend, currently fluctuating from 60,000 to 64,000 VND/kg.

Northern pig price

Pig price on November 12, 2024: Continues to stabilize at high prices

On November 14, the Northern region saw a slight decrease in the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc and Thai Binh, all down to 63,000 VND/kg.

Notably, Hanoi and Phu Tho still maintain the transaction price of 64,000 VND/kg, the highest in the country. Other localities in the region keep prices stable from 62,000 to 63,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in Central Highlands

In the Central Highlands, the price of live pigs in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa decreased to 62,000 VND/kg, equal to the price in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Lam Dong.

Apart from the above mentioned provinces, other areas in the region maintain prices with almost no significant difference, ranging from 60,000 to 61,000 VND/kg.

Southern pig price

The Southern region this morning recorded different fluctuations, with prices ranging from 60,000 to 63,000 VND/kg.

Binh Duong slightly reduced the price by 1,000 VND/kg, currently at 60,000 VND/kg. On the contrary, the provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Long An, Soc Trang and Ca Mau increased by 1,000 VND/kg, trading in the range of 61,000 to 63,000 VND/kg.

Overall, the price of live pigs today continued to increase in the North and North Central regions, while the South recorded mixed fluctuations. According to the latest survey, the price nationwide fluctuated between 60,000 and 64,000 VND/kg.

According to forecasts, the stable trend of live hog prices is likely to be maintained nationwide, with some areas possibly fluctuating slightly depending on consumption demand. In the context of the year-end approaching, livestock farmers can also prepare supplies to meet the high consumption level in the coming time.

In the short term, pork prices across the country are likely to remain stable. However, with major holidays coming up such as Christmas and Lunar New Year, pork consumption could increase sharply, potentially pushing prices even higher.

Disease prevention and control in livestock

Thai Nguyen Newspaper reported that at the conference to summarize the implementation of the program to prevent avian influenza and other epidemics in the period of 2019-2025, Dong Hy district currently has about 6,400 buffaloes and cows, 5,200 pigs and 1.8 million poultry.

Currently, about 90% of livestock households here are small-scale farmers, accounting for 30% of the total livestock and poultry herd. The small-scale livestock model and the interspersed residential areas increase the risk of disease outbreaks, making management and control difficult.

Thanks to good disease prevention work, the number of cases of foot-and-mouth disease and dangerous infectious diseases in livestock in Dong Hy has decreased by 10-20% compared to the period 2016-2020.

At the Conference, representatives of communes and towns agreed on the common goal for the 2026-2030 period: striving to vaccinate at least 80% of the total herd, closely monitoring the disease situation, early detection and timely handling, and preventing the spread of disease.
