According to Variety , Pollstar's mid-year report shows that Madonna is dominating the list of the highest-grossing tours worldwide in 2024 thanks to the huge success of her "Celebration Tour". With an average ticket price of $208.85, the "Queen of Pop" earned an average of $2,794,007 per show, selling an average of 13,378 tickets, reaching a total of 856,247 tickets sold in 34 reported shows (out of a total of 65 scheduled shows).
Pollstar’s mid-year report also analyzed the broader music industry landscape. After years of record ticket sales thanks to a post-pandemic spending boom, the live music market has shown signs of stabilization in the first half of 2024. There are no major percentage changes from previous years. In 2023, total revenue is up 51.1% from 2022, and average revenue per show is up 64.7%. However, in 2024, neither increase exceeds 17% or decreases exceed 15%.

However, Pollstar's results do not include figures from Taylor Swift's "Eras" tour, which is not publicly reported. However, last December, Pollstar recorded the "Eras Tour" as the highest-grossing tour of all time, surpassing the $1 billion mark. With the European leg of the "Eras Tour" starting on May 9, Swift is likely to continue to top the charts this year.
Bad Bunny followed Madonna with $174.6 million from the "Most Wanted Tour," followed by Luis Miguel with $169.4 million, U2 in fourth place with $135 million from the Sphere tour, and Karol G rounding out the top five with $111 million. The top 10 also includes Bruno Mars ($102 million), Coldplay ($100 million), Seventeen ($74 million), Eagles ($69 million) and Nicki Minaj ($66 million).
Globally, 2024 grosses top $3 billion for the first time, up from $2.83 billion in 2023. Last year saw a huge increase from 2022, when global grosses totaled $1.87 billion. Average grosses in 2024 are down slightly from last year, at $1.37 million compared to $1.47 million, while ticket sales are virtually unchanged (24.1 million in 2024 compared to 24.3 million in 2023). Average ticket prices are up from $116 to $127, although the average number of tickets sold per show is down from 12,655 to 10,767.
In North America, Bad Bunny leads the way in total revenue with $174.6 million. Madonna follows closely with $148 million, followed by U2 ($135 million), Luis Miguel ($100 million) and the Eagles ($69 million). Total revenue in the region reached $2.33 billion, up 18.7% from $1.96 billion last year. Total tickets sold increased to 17.6 million from 16.32 million in 2023, while the average ticket sold fell from 9,071 to 8,252.
The report comes amid strong ticket sales, which contrast with the cancellations of major artists. In recent months, The Black Keys have canceled their international tour, while Jennifer Lopez has also changed her plans, shifting her focus from a new album to a greatest hits show.
