The trend of stopping using SMS Banking

Accordingly, registering to receive notifications of changes in bank account balances via SMS (SMS Banking) is a popular method used by customers to control the fluctuating cash flow in their accounts. Normally, the fee that customers have to pay for the bank's SMS Banking service is 10,000 VND/month, limited to 15 - 20 messages. If the number of messages exceeds 15 - 20 messages/month/subscriber, the fee will be calculated per message at 700 VND/message, excluding value added tax.

With such unlimited payment levels, it will be difficult for customers to control their expenses for SMS Banking services. In fact, many customers have to spend hundreds of thousands of VND for this service every month, due to many messages of balance fluctuations.

This issue has led to concerns among some customers, especially individuals and organizations that regularly use banking services such as: money transfer, credit cards, installment payments...

Ms. Thuy Linh (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi) said that in previous months, this fee was only 11,000 VND. However, last October, she suddenly received a notice that the SMS Banking fee to be paid at the end of the month was up to more than 120,000 VND - a fee she considered unreasonable for an online sales job that generates hundreds of transactions each month. Sharing the same dissatisfaction with the fluctuating fee as Ms. Linh, some customers have tended to stop using SMS Banking and instead receive notifications from the banking application (push notification).

However, in reality, push messages on the application can have a certain delay and are influenced by many factors such as the quality of each person's Internet connection. Meanwhile, SMS Banking allows users to receive instant and comprehensive notifications about changes in account balances. From here, when there are unusual transactions, the bank can quickly inform customers and coordinate to prevent and handle them. In general, installing SMS Banking directly with the bank through the network operator helps users improve security, proactively control their accounts anytime, anywhere, and update quickly.

Pioneer in providing preferential policies for SMS Banking services

According to the reporter's investigation, from October 1, 2024, Viettel network has promptly provided preferential SMS Banking service policies for users at partner banks. This shows the network's efforts to stabilize SMS Banking rates, ensuring the maintenance of this highly secure service for users of the banks.

The SMS Banking promotion provided by Viettel has a starting fee of 11,000 VND/month/subscriber for up to the first 20 notification messages. From the 21st to the 70th message, the fee is 14,520 VND. From the 71st message onwards, the fee is 22,000 VND. And this is the highest fee that bank customers have to pay, with no limit on the number of notification messages generated. Thanks to that, users do not have to worry about unexpected fee increases each month and can easily control the fees they have to pay by receiving full and timely transaction notifications.

Maintaining a stable fee level also helps this network increase its appeal to banks with a large customer base. At the same time, Viettel also affirms its position as a "national network" for customers who need to use banking services and SMS Banking regularly.

“Accompanying banks and millions of individual customers, we always want to develop practical and effective products and services to bring convenience to daily life. Therefore, providing SMS banking services to customers of partner banks at the same fee will help users feel secure in transactions, receive full information without incurring additional costs,” said a representative of Viettel network.
